Coral Strengths and Weaknesses
Your best bet is to read the full Coral review to get all the information possible before you decide if it’s the site for you. However, if you’re tight on time, you can see what I consider to be the main pros and cons below:
✔️ Coral Strengths
- If you’re the kind of player who likes a big selection of options at one site, you’ll find sports betting, casino, live casino, bingo and poker all in one place at Coral.
- Coral was established in 1926, which objectively indicates it’s a trustworthy site. It’s also part of Entain Group, which represents the UK’s biggest betting sites.
- Visit the UK around the time of key events like Cheltenham Festival and you’ll see signs everywhere with Coral’s name. They’re big on horse racing, which means tonnes of offers.
- The website is packed with features and markets but everything is arranged in a really clear way, making it very easy to navigate.
- In 2019, Coral Ladbrokes were embroiled in a controversial incident involving vulnerable gamblers, and were fined £5.9m. This raises questions over their ethics.
- The pre-match football betting odds (specifically) at Coral aren’t necessarily the best when compared to other betting apps, although overall their odds are pretty competitive.
Coral’s review by Ricky Davies
If you live in the UK, you’ll definitely have heard of Coral. Reviews are largely positive, and with good reason; this is a site which really impressed me, from the number of products available to the design and attention to detail.
There is always a wide range of promotions happening at Coral. Some of these are ever-present, like extra places being paid on selected horse races. But you’ll also find one-off special offers, especially on football and horse racing. Personally, these are the two sports I bet on the most – and I’m sure that’s the case for many of you, too.
All sports are listed in the left-hand menu and everything is covered, including niche options such as e-sports and even WWE wrestling. You’ll also see some ‘Super Series’ options on sports like football and racing, where you can earn free bets.
There are plenty of markets, especially on the biggest sports. I checked the number of pre-match markets on an upcoming Champions League fixture and found more than 200 options on one match alone, which was a very impressive stat for my Coral review.
The payment methods here are varied, although it must be said you’ll find other betting apps and sites in the UK which have more options. Nonetheless, all the big hitters are here, including debit cards, and there’s even Apple Pay – which isn’t too common. More importantly, funds are transferred in a timely manner.
If you thought that a UK betting site founded in 1926 would be old fashioned, the contact options beg to differ. If the FAQ section doesn’t help, you’ll see options to get in touch via social media or live chat. I asked the staff a few tricky questions and found them to be very responsive, which was a plus point in my Coral review. Click ‘Help and Contact’ in the website’s footer to get in touch.
All aspects of the site are housed under a single app which is free to download on iOS or Android. It has a good layout, similar to the desktop version.
Is Coral legal in the UK?
You’ll find it difficult to find a site which is safer and more official than Coral. As mentioned, the company was founded in 1926, which makes them one of the oldest bookmakers in the UK.
In 2016, Coral joined forces with a major UK competitor to form Ladbrokes Coral. Then, in 2018, Ladbrokes Coral was acquired by GVC Holdings, now known as Entain. That means the company is among the UK’s biggest and most popular sites under the Entain brand.
Coral is licensed by the UK Gambling Commission, one of the most respected bodies in the industry.
Coral’s Welcome Package 🎁
When you first join a new betting site, it’s an opportune time to take advantage of a big offer, as nearly all sites I’ve seen have offered some kind of incentive. And Coral’s is a good one.
At the time of my Coral review, the welcome bonus was great because it offered an instant reward when you made a qualifying bet.

Coral’s Welcome Bonus Terms and Conditions
The full terms and conditions are clearly displayed on the Coral website for each promotion, including the welcome bonus. And the ones I saw at the time of my Coral review were pretty favourable.
The concept is simple – bet £5, get a £20 free bet. But the thing that stood out most as I was writing my Coral review was the fact that the free bet is unlocked ‘instantly’. Usually, bookmakers wait until your bet has settled. This is partially to stop you hedging your bets in the same event. Here, you get your freebie straight away – and it’s four times bigger than the investment required. All in all, this seems to be a great welcome bonus.
Football Super Series
Accurately predict four match stats to win a free bet.
Racing Super Series
Pick one horse to place in selected races to win a share of £25,000.
The Rewards Grabber
Select the grabber icon for a shot at a free prize.
Fail to Finish
Get a free bet up to £10 if your horse fails to finish.
Best Odds Guaranteed
Place your bet pre-race and, if the starting price is higher, get paid at the bigger odds.
Extra Place Races
Increase your odds of winning with extra places paid on selected races.
Get boosted odds on selected markets.
Daily Lotto Draws
Take your shot at a big lottery win each day.
Bet £5 on selected races to get a £2 casino bonus if your horse fails to win.
Coral’s Best Sports Features
So, what makes Coral special? My review has already touched on many of the site’s strengths, but now I’ll dig into a few of the key features which really help it stand out.
Here are my favourite features which I found while conducting my Coral review:
Poker might be a slightly tentative feature, but it’s definitely worth a mention for two main reasons. Firstly, not all bookmakers have their own poker product. And secondly, it’s not as mainstream as sites like 888 or Unibet – which potentially increases your odds of avoiding the best players!
You’ll find in-play betting at quite a lot of UK betting sites these days, but Coral takes it especially seriously. This is partly due to their strong ties to the UK horse racing scene, which also means you can enjoy live streams when placing a qualifying bet.
Coral’s Mobile Apps 📱
I downloaded the Coral app, which has all features including sports betting and casino in one place. I really liked the layout. Just like the website, I found it very easy to intuitively navigate.
Alternatively, you can simply access the mobile version of the site via your smartphone’s browser.
As I mentioned earlier in my review, Coral could do with adding a few more banking options if it wants to keep up with its competitors.
But the options here are solid. Visa and MasterCard are included, along with Apple Pay and PayPal. Those options alone will cover most customers’ requests.
In order to create a thorough Coral review, I made extra deposits and withdrawals via the Coral app, using payment methods I don’t normally opt for. This was to test the transaction times. I found them to be as good as other top UK bookmakers.
Coral’s Customer Support
While researching for my Coral review, I found customer support to be a real area of strength. You have lots of options to get in touch including an online form where you can upload documents, as well as social media, phone and live chat.
The staff were friendly and helpful in my experience, so I’d highly recommend them.
