Ladbrokes Sports Review

3.5
By:Scott McGlynn

This Ladbrokes Sportsbook review is based on the personal experiences that I gained from visiting the long-established, well-renowned bookmaker.

Ladbrokes have such a long history of operation in the UK - it's a brand that, like myself, most will have heard of.

To gather some information about how good their online operations are, we examined the different areas of the Ladbrokes site from their sportsbook, odds, features and payment methods.

Let's launch into our look at Ladbrokes Sportsbook !

Ladbrokes Strengths and Weaknesses

To paint a fair picture of the experience that you could potentially have at Ladbrokes UK, I noted both the positives and the weaknesses that came my way.

✔️ Ladbrokes Strengths

  • Trusted Brand - First out of the gate, the fact that they are so well known I found comforting in terms of knowing that I was at a trusted operator without having to research who they were.
  • Superb Horse Racing - I liked that Ladbrokes was excellent at pricing up early racing markets, plus they have live streams, racing promos, tips and insights from the Racing Post.
  • Long-standing promos - As a punter, I like to see betting offers that I use on more than one occasion, and Ladbrokes have a fair few of them to their credit.

❌ Ladbrokes Weaknesses

  • Mobile App - I did find their mobile app a little frustrating to use (iOS) as I sometimes felt like I was waiting for it to catch up with what I wanted to do. Market odds refreshes were better on the mobile website, in my opinion.
  • Speed - I don't find the Ladbrokes leading site the quickest to load markets when switching between them. However, they get a slight pass because their market variety is top-notch.

Ladbrokes Sportsbook Review

Next, to get into the meat of this Ladbrokes Review, we'll drive through some key areas of the experience.

First, there is the welcome bonus, which is pretty good. I like that it is broken into four separate bonuses of £5 each instead of having to play an entire £20 free bet in one go. That was an excellent way to start things off.

📢 "Backed by years of experience in the gambling industry, the Ladbrokes sportsbook is one of the best sports betting sites on the internet."

The sportsbook at Ladbrokes UK is everything I expected it to be. Because they have such history and tradition in the British bookmaking scene, I expected their sportsbook, markets and bet variety to be on point.

They are, and from my experience, Ladbrokes is one of the best betting sites around for horse racing, which is one of my preferred areas of sports betting and a good standard, therefore, to judge different bookies by.

Wherever I clicked around in the sportsbook, from football to rugby and more, there was always a tremendous amount of bet options for a match.

Live in-play coverage was up to par, and I'd recommend going straight to their main In-Play link in the menu to get the whole experience of everything they cover. There were also cash out options everywhere on live football matches that I looked at.

Ladbrokes sport
Ladbrokes UK Home Page.

One niggle, though, is that the Ladbrokes live in-play betting, without big flashy graphics and a plethora of stats, doesn't have a tremendously exciting dynamic feel about it. Still, it's robust and functional for betting.

I have to mention their promotions because options like the Ladbrokes horse racing Best Odds Guaranteed, Extra Places, and Daily Price Boosts quietly sit there, offering some superb extra value.

Overall the site is laid out nicely, and it's pleasing to the eye. Personally, it felt a little on the slow side in loading pages, which is a similar experience on their app.

But I don't think they can be faulted for the number of markets available. Nor because of odds comparison on some racing markets and Premier League football matches saw them stand competitively alongside other big hitters in the industry.

I felt comfortable on their site, knowing that this was one of the biggest betting operators.

Ladbrokes Review Score

For a quick overview of the quality of many different areas, we have issued easy-to-read ratings for this Ladbrokes review.

Bonuses & Offers ⭐⭐⭐

Ladbrokes do have some long-standing good promotions. Competitors like Bet365 arguably have a more extensive range, but we feel there’s enough to keep Ladbrokes football and racing punters happy.

Betting Variety ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The sportsbook at Ladbrokes is superb, so it comes in with a high rating. Everything under the sun is in there, and the market depth of major sports gets an A+. They are one of the better bookies for novelty and eSports too.

Banking Options ⭐⭐⭐⭐

There’s no faulting the banking options from Ladbrokes. Debit cards, eWallets, and direct bank options are all available. Deposit processing times are immediate for deposits with low minimums and no fees.

Mobile Experience ⭐⭐⭐

The Ladbrokes mobile betting app does feel like it could use some updating. All of the main website’s features are there, but it just feels a little fiddly to navigate around and is prone to getting a touch glitchy during busy periods.

Payout Speed ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Withdrawal times are excellent at Ladbrokes, as in our experience, their Risk Team processes things quickly. Standard debit withdrawals can take between 1-3 working days. But Visa Fast Funds are available for selected banks, while e-wallet withdrawals come out on the same day.

Security ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Ladbrokes are one of the most recognisable brands in the UK betting industry. They are licensed and regulated by the Gambling Commission and have firewalls and SSL encryption. There are Responsible Gambling tools available as well.

Software & Games ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Games at the Ladbrokes Casino can be played online without any additional software. There are live games, and they sometimes tie in casino offers to current major sports events.

Betting Experience ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Overall for this Ladbrokes review, we give the operator an excellent solid rating. In our experience, the market variety and odds in the sportsbook are enough to keep us coming back.

Customer Support ⭐⭐⭐

We can’t go too high in this rating, as it’s frustrating to search for contact info. However, you can get to their chat support via the deposit page. Unfortunately, support isn’t available 24/7, either.

Is Ladbrokes Legal in the UK?

Safety and SecurityLadbrokes are a safe and legal betting platform for UK punters to use. They are fully regulated and licensed by the UK Gambling Commission.

As a punter playing with hard-earned money, always stick with reputable and regulated brands. It adds peace of mind that you're dealing with secure technology, encrypted transactions, and the availability of better customer support.

I searched around forums for any indication of data breaches, security lapses or even reports against Ladbrokes and couldn't find anything.

Ladbrokes Welcome Package 🎁

  • Click any link above to claim the Ladbrokes welcome bonus

  • Make a qualifying deposit
  • Place at least a £5 stake on Ladbrokes sports (minimum 1/2 odds)

Ladbrokes Welcome Bonus Terms and Conditions

As a punter, I know it's not the most exciting thing, but don't skip the terms and conditions of any offer, even if it is at the very least the key ones.

Remember, you don't have to use the welcome bonus. But, to help decide whether it's worth your time, check those T&Cs.

As far as T&Cs for the Ladbrokes welcome bonus goes, they are not that extensive.

One key issue is deposit restrictions as accounts opened with Prepaid Cards, Moneybookers, InstantBank, Paypal, Paysafe, Neteller, or Skrill won't be of quality. That's pretty standard.

Ladbrokes also state market restrictions on the free bets but don't be too discouraged when reading that. They can be used on a vast range of sports from Ladbrokes football, racing, tennis, cricket, rugby, boxing etc.

  • 18+ New UK & Ire Customers Only
  • Deposit Restrictions apply
  • Minimum first £5 bet has to be made within 14 days of opening the account
  • Qualifying bet has to be at a minimum of 1/2 odds
  • Free bets to be used on selected sportsbook markets only
  • Free bets are valid for seven days.

Ladbrokes Best Sports Features

I enjoy finding features beyond the Ladbrokes sports markets bolted onto the sportsbook to give a fuller experience. So let's get into some top features to be found at the site.

Acca Features

Ladbrokes have some great Acca features, including the ability to boost, insure and even edit active football Accas.

Ladbrokes Live Streams

There are live sports streams available at Ladbrokes, from football to basketball. Bet on Ladbrokes horse racing (all UK and Irish) and watch live races.

Bet Builder

I found a Ladbrokes Bet Builder tool available ranging from international matches down to obscure football matches from the Ecuador Cup.

#GetAPrice

Although it's not something I've personally used in betting, you can send a unique bet request via Twitter to Ladbrokes for them to price up. They may, or may not do that, so don't bank on it. Alternatively, you can browse through bets that other punters have already had priced up.

5-A-side

Aside from the great Ladbrokes football markets, this is a fun fantasy feature at Ladbrokes. Build a 5-A-Side team (out of the two teams competing in a real-life match), select a formation and give the players tasks, such as a Goalie To Concede or Player A to complete x-amount of passes. Earn points for completed tasks and get on the leaderboard for a prize!

Ladbrokes Sports Coverage

We went into this Ladbrokes review with some high hopes for their sportsbook. They are, after all, a big staple of the UK betting scene.

Fortunately, we weren’t disappointed by what we found in the Ladbrokes sport. Here are some of the significant areas of Ladbrokes UK sports coverage.

Football

Naturally, we are going to start with the biggest. We do this for all existing and new betting sites. It’s a good litmus test of quality for UK punters.

One notable thing that puts Ladbrokes ahead of many of the best football betting sites is early prices.

The Ladbrokes sports listings are up well ahead of time. So they are an excellent spot for ante-post football markets, such as the next World Cup or Champions League winner.

From the Premier League to the lower tiers of England, to the Bundesliga and those obscure leagues from Chile and Peru in the middle of the night, Ladbrokes knock football betting out of the park.

Horse Racing

Since Ladbrokes UK has long been associated with horse racing, this is another area of sports coverage in which we expected to find a top service.

We found it in Ladbrokes horse racing with features like Build Your Racecard, Futures and Specials. In addition, there are live racing streams and the ability to watch the pre-parade.

There are great racing insights on UK and Irish cards for all the runners. That’s provided by the Racing Post, including a verdict. International racing rounds off an excellent section.

Boxing & MMA

Another strong area of Ladbrokes sports coverage is boxing and MMA. That’s because they consistently produce competitive odds in handicaps, over/under and things like round betting.

Tennis

The depth of market coverage that Ladbrokes UK punters can get for tennis betting is brilliant. A stack of tournaments are covered well beyond the Slams and the regular tour. For this Ladbrokes review, we even found markets priced up for an exhibition event in the USA.

Novelty

We enjoyed browsing around the Ladbrokes novelty areas. It is, in our experience, one of the first sites that come to mind when looking for these non-sports bets.

TV & Specials include the Next James Bond and the Next Doctor Who. In addition, Christmas Specials will crop up, as with unique weather ones.

Throw in some politics and awards betting, and you can get great overall coverage.

Sports Variety

Just to put a very nice-looking cap on the Ladbrokes review of their sports, when we see variety like Formula 1, Fishing, Cricket, Chess, Greyhounds and Golf, we take peace of mind that we are going to find what we are looking for.

Ladbrokes Betting Markets & Types of Bets Available

We move on in this Ladbrokes review from looking at the sports coverage types and on to markets and bet types.

Why is this important to our Ladbrokes review UK? While we generally stick to the same type of bets for our sports wagering, punters should not have to only choose from a narrow band of options.

While we may like Winning Margin bets, other punters may want to ensure they get Corners Over/Unders. So the variety of bets that you can play for selections is essential.

Ladbrokes Betting Markets

  • Match Betting - This primary market is displayed well at Ladbrokes, thanks to their excellent design.
  • Both Teams To Score - Popular fare for football punters who can take a punt on whether both teams will score in a match.
  • Over/Under - You can find over/under markets running throughout the many different sports at Ladbrokes, UK. There are goals and corners in football, try counts in rugby, games and sets in tennis, points totals in NBA, and so many more.
  • Winning Margin - A winning margin punt is an excellent alternative to a handicap. You pick how much a team or player will win from preset bands of points or goals.
  • Handicap Markets - Much like the over/under, this is common in many sports. It's usually the first destination when there are unfavourable outright match odds on a favourite.

Ladbrokes Types of Bets Available

  • Win Single - Pick a single outcome in a match or event.
  • Double And Trebles - A bet where two or three selections are combined. All the included selections have to win.
  • Multis - Bigger, riskier multis are created by throwing more legs into the hat, like the acca.
  • Accumulator - Although an Acca can be a tough bet to land, it's still hugely popular. The more legs, the riskier the bet but, the bigger the payout.
  • Top X Markets - A good area of sports betting like golf and football is the Top X markets. It could be a Top 8 Finish in the Premier League or a Top 10 at the Open golf.
  • Full Cover Bets - A full cover bet can be played with or without singles. There is a stack of variations, including the Lucky 15, Trixie and Yankee.
  • Forecast and Tricast - While these aren't bet types we use much, they remain popular. It's where you make the exact call on the finishing positions of the top two or three in an event.
  • Reverse Bets - A reverse Forecast, for example, predicts the top two finishers in a horse race in any order.
  • BetBuilder - The BetBuilder can be an exciting type of bet. Most commonly found in football matches, you can build a bet from preset markets like total corners, cards, match winners etc.

Ladbrokes Mobile Apps

Ladbrokes have betting apps for Android and iOS, and there are links on their main website page to get them.

So they are easy to grab, and I noticed they were recently updated, which is always a positive. Still, however, in my case on the iOS version, I found it a little slow to load the app and refresh markets.

It's relatively straightforward to use the menus that let you get to different markets quickly. However, they also have the full Ladbrokes range of promotions and features that you can use through the betting app.

📢 "The Ladbrokes app contains the same range of promotions and features you can find on the desktop version of the site."

I've used several bookmaker betting apps and the Ladbrokes app in my option - while it is secure and offers plenty of betting opportunities, it's perhaps not the most functional that I've come across.

Ladbrokes Sports Bonuses & Promotions

For our in-depth Ladbrokes review, we move from sports and bet types to promotions.

Betting offers are an important area for a lot of punters. While welcome bonus offers remain eye-catching, it’s also essential to check out current offers.

These types of offers will sit on a bookmaker’s ‘Promotion’ page to use on more than one occasion.

You will also be looking for a lot of event-specific promotions that pop up. Here are some of the big Ladbrokes promotions:

  • Ladbrokes Welcome Bonus - As a reminder of the Ladbrokes welcome bonus, it is a Bet £5 Get £20 offer. New customers get £20 (4 x £5) in free bets after a sign-up and a qualifying stake of £5 on sports.
  • 1-2-Free - This is a popular free-to-play precision game at Ladbrokes for cash prizes. Predict the correct score in three selected matches for a shot at a share of the £100 jackpot.
  • Ladbrokes Odds Boost - We found many daily odds boosts at Ladbrokes. Log in to your account and pick up your daily Odds Boost that can be applied to the sport of your choice.
  • Acca Tools - Accumulator management at Ladbrokes is brilliant, in our opinion. With the Ladbrokes Best ACCA, you can boost, insure and even edit an active accumulator bet. Included in that is an acca tracker.
  • Bet Boosts - Another excellent feature worthy of mention in this Ladbrokes review is the vast number of enhanced odds offers. They have a bunch available to supercharge your bets.
  • Horse Racing Offers - There are Best Odds Guaranteed from 8 am on race day for UK & Irish horse racing, plus extra places from around the world.
  • Ladbrokes #Getaprice - This is a feature where you can send a Tweet to @Ladbrokes with the request for a bet you want. If they accept, they’ll respond.

Ladbrokes Casino

There is a Ladbrokes Casino that UK players can enjoy as well. It's an inviting and dynamic site in equal measure.

In our experience of online casinos, Ladbrokes do an excellent job with the number and variety of games they offer. They have exclusive games like Lock o'the Irish, Ladbrokes Heat and Football Cash Collect.

The range is excellent. The same can be said of common table games like Poker, Black Jack and Roulette. In addition, the Ladbrokes casino includes on-demand and Live Casino games and has substantial game variations.

The Ladbrokes casino's organisation is also a good feature for players. Filtering through the many formats like Jackpots, Megaways, and Scratch can be done.

New customers to the Ladbrokes Casino can enjoy many promotions, including a Welcome Offer. In addition, other feature promotions like instant spins and instant wins can be claimed.

Across the different sections of the Ladbrokes Casino, there are separate welcome offers. We saw ones for Poker, Bingo and Live Casino.

Ladbrokes Banking

There are plenty of positives about this operator, which I've touched on in this Ladbrokes review.

After getting signed up, the next step is to fund your account.

UK players have access to a few different payment methods, which can be done through 'My Account' after logging in.

Options include Visa, MasterCard and Maestro Card (no credit cards in the UK), Bank Transfer, Neteller, Paypal, Paysafecard, Skrill, Trustly, Google Pay and Apple Pay.

I like the convenience of Apple Pay as it's already set up behind the security of FaceID on my device.

But I signed up via their website and used a debit card. The deposit was instant. If I switch to the betting apps to deposit, I still can, as they allow three payment methods in a rolling 30 days. It is possible to set your deposit limit.

What about the winnings in your account? How do you get those? There is the usual closed-loop system for Withdrawals, so that means winnings have to go back to the funding source.

When making a Withdrawal request, Ladbrokes review the request, and when they approve it, they will release the transaction.

Minimum withdrawals and deposit amounts are £5 for most options, and once Ladbrokes has approved a transaction, it is about 1-3 banking days for a card and ApplePay, while e-wallets should be there the same day.

Ladbrokes Customer Support

customer supportNot having had a reason to contact the Ladbrokes support, I checked out what channels they had available in preparation, just in case.

They have two recommended channels of contact, which are slightly unusual as they are via Facebook Messenger and private messages on Twitter. Customer support is available 24/7, as is their Live Chat, which I poked around in, and you have to go through a robot chat first before getting to live support there.

The quickest way to get to the Ladbrokes support is through the Help & Contact link at the bottom of the page.

Ladbrokes How To

This Ladbrokes review aims to help punters get the most out of the experience. Here is some further helpful information.

How to open an account at Ladbrokes

To enjoy the Ladbrokes UK experience, you first need an account. The sign-up process at Ladbrokes was quick and easy in our experience.

It didn’t take long to open an account - we probably didn’t even spend five minutes at it.

  • Visit the Ladbrokes website (mobile or website)
  • Click on the Join Now button
  • Fill out the registration form with your details and account creation info
  • Confirm you are of legal age and thereby confirm registration
  • Verify Registration
  • Make a first deposit of at least £5 to qualify for the Welcome Bonus (payment restrictions apply)
  • Visit the Ladbrokes sportsbook
  • Make a stake of £5 on sports
  • Receive 4x £5 free bets straight away

How to place a bet at Ladbrokes

As we have explored in this Ladbrokes review, their sportsbook is exemplary. This is because there are so many sports and markets to plough through.

However, the site is user-friendly, and the top betting events are never too far away. The menus are good (better on the website, in our opinion), so exploring the sportsbook for bets is easy.

If it’s a cricket bet on the opening Test of the Ashes in Ladbrokes sport, find the sport in the menu. Next, click on the match to see all available markets. Then, click on the odds box for your desired selection, which will be added to your slip.

You can create multis and edit selections in the bet slip. Then, Double-check any stake entered and place the bet. In addition, you can track live bets in your account for cash-out options.

How to cash out at Ladbrokes

You can use the Ladbrokes cash-out tool to minimise losses or lock in some profit before a market is settled. First, go to your account to see your active bets. If cash out is available for a Ladbrokes sports bet, you will see a button to click and the settlement offer.

How to make a Ladbrokes withdrawal

Click on your profile after a Ladbrokes login and hit the “Withdrawal” link. Debit cards are a quick and secure method to use for betting accounts. It also, importantly, qualifies for the Ladbrokes welcome offer.

A withdrawal to a debit card takes between 1-3 banking days. However, for banks that support it, Ladbrokes can issue Visa Fast Funds to get your money within 4 hours.

E-wallet withdrawals such as Skrill and Paysafecard can be received on the same day. Ladbrokes don’t charge any fees.

How to get the Ladbrokes apps

You can search in Google Play or the App Store to collect the Ladbrokes app you need.

If you are having difficulty locating betting apps, there’s a solution. The links in the footer text of their main Ladbrokes sports page will get you to the Ladbrokes app you need.

How to verify a Ladbrokes account

This is an easy step, and it’s a security measure for Ladbrokes to protect themselves and you.

To verify your Ladbrokes account, you can send them a picture of a passport or driving licence through their secure upload.

They’ll aim to get account verification (which you’ll need for making transactions) completed within 24 hours.
