How Betting Sites Calculate and Pay Out Refunds

We looked more favourably on those operators who increased their refunds to £20 or £25 and as a result, they were ranked higher on our list. • Number of Selections Required – Although 5+ selections was a fairly common stipulation, we looked less favourably on those bookmakers who would only refund bets of 6+. Thankfully, this was a rarity.

In this theoretical example, four of the five results are successful, however, unfortunately, Aberdeen and Ross County finishes 1-1. With just a single unsuccessful leg, this accumulator qualifies for Acca Insurance and you will receive your £10 stake back as a free bet once all of these matches have finished.

Stake £5

In this example, the punter has assembled an accumulator using the handicap markets. Each team is required to win by a minimum of a two goal margin. PSG win 3-0, Man City win 4-1, Ajax win 3-1 and Bayern win 5-0, however Real Madrid are only able to secure a 2-1 victory. As a result, this accumulator has been let down by just a single selection and will be fully refunded (£5)

Stake £30

In this example, the punter has opted to place a £30 bet on this 5-fold and is clearly feeling very confident about the selections. However, the chosen bookmaker only offer Acca Insurance up to £20.

PSV, Fiorentina, Brighton and Rangers are all victorious, however, Frankfurt can only draw 0-0 with their opponents.

In this case, the punter will receive a £20 free bet, however, the remaining £10 isn’t refunded due to the bookmakers’ Ts and Cs.

Stake - £5

Spurs were able to ease part Burnley and Leeds beat QPR, however, Benfica, Torino and Club Brugge were unable to follow suit and their matches ended all-square. As a result, only two of the five selections were successful. Acca Insurance did not apply to this accumulator and unfortunately, the £5 is lost.

Acca Insurance T&Cs

If you wish to qualify for Acca Insurance, there are a number of terms and conditions which must be adhered to. We’ve picked out some of the key requirements which are commonly attached to this excellent feature.

Number of Selections: Most UK bookmakers stipulate that an accumulator must have 5+ selections in order to qualify for Acca Insurance. If you create an accumulator consisting of four selection, you will not receive a refund if one of your selections is unsuccessful. There is no maximum number of selections.

Minimum Odds: The majority of UK betting sites will insist that accumulators must be placed at minimum odds of 1.5 (1/2). Unless you include several 1/20 shots, this is unlikely to be an issue.

Maximum Refund: If you read through the terms and conditions, you will see that each bookmaker has a maximum stake when it comes to Acca Insurance. Many UK operators will cap the refund limit at £10, however, there are a number of sites who have increased this up to £25. If you go above the limit, you will still receive a free bet, however, you will not receive all of your stake back.
