What is the FIFA Club World Cup?
During the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, fans will be presented to the Club World Cup’s brand-new format for the very first time.
Having first started back in 2000, the tournament was initially reserved for just the champions of Europe, South America, Oceania, ASIA and the CONCAF. Over time, the tournament has changed and evolved.
In 2005, the tournament shortened and there would be fewer FIFA Club World Cup games. With just the six championship winners from the official FIFA regions participating in the tournament, it was decided that the representatives from Europe and South America would receive a bye to the semifinals, with the other four teams competing in a round robin. The top two teams would qualify for the semifinals and complete the line up.
With big prize money on the line, the tournament had several venues, including Japan, Morocco, the UAE and Qatar. To keep the disruption to the football schedule as minimal as possible, the tournament would take place in December—when most leagues are on their summer/winter break.
Over the years some of the most famous and historic clubs have been able to call themselves Club World Champions, including the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City.
This format would remain in place until this summer, when the number of teams will swell to a whopping thirty-two.
The New Format of the FIFA Club World Cup
Kicking off on the 14th of June and running all the way until the 13th of July, thirty-two of the best club sides in the world will descend on America in the hope of adding their names to the prestigious list of FIFA Club World Cup winners.
Unlike in the past where some teams qualified directly for the semifinals, the new look FIFA Club World Cup draw saw all 32 teams placed into eight groups of four, with the top two in each group progressing to the knockout rounds.
For those wanting to place bets on the tournament at some of the best football betting sites, be aware that there will be four knockout rounds, the round of 16, quarterfinals, semifinals, and the FIFA Club World Cup final taking place on the 13th July.
To be one of the 32 qualified teams, the following places were reserved:
- Europe – 12 slots
- South America – 6 slots
- North America and the Caribbean – 4 slots
- Asia – 4 slots
- Africa – 4 slots
- Oceania – 1 slot
To be invited, teams will need to have won their respective federations championships, namely the Champions League or COPA Liberatadores.
FIFA Club World Cup Betting
Whether you are a veteran football bettor already familiar with the best betting sites in the UK, or planning on signing up to one for the very first time, good news—the FIFA Club World Cup will provide plenty of opportunities to get involved. There are several different bets you can place on many Champions League betting sites. Here are some of the most popular bet types available for the FIFA Club World Cup:
Outright Match Winner: The most popular bet that is likely to be placed during the World Cup is predicting the winner of a match. This is a bet that contains three outcomes, Team A to win, Team B to win or the draw—correctly predict the outcome in order to win.
Outright Tournament Winner: As well as predicting what team you think could win an individual match, there are likely to be new betting sites that will have outright tournament markets. A bet like this requires you to pick the winner of the tournament. If you back a team to win and they do, your bet will be a winner. If they fall in either the group stages or early knockout rounds, you’ll have lost.
Accumulator Bets: Due to the odds in outright bets being limited, often large stakes are required in order to win big. However, if you don’t want to stake big amounts, an accumulator bet could be the way to go—with these bets, you’ll have to pick the correct outcomes of multiple matches, and the odds of all your selections are combined to make one bet.
In order to win this bet, every prediction you make needs to be correct. If you pick six teams to win and five do, but one loses, your overall bet will be a losing one. Accumulators can often be linked to some of the best betting offers at the best FIFA club world cup betting sites so do your research to see what extra value you could potentially find.
Correct Score: One bet which has always been popular is trying to guess the correct score. Often these bets take out the individual winner but sees the bettor try to predict what the final score will be. The number of goals will determine the overall odds. 1-0 is likely to see smaller odds than correctly predicting that a match will end 4-0.
Over/Under Goals: Often bookmakers will set parameters for goals and provide those wanting to place bets with the opportunity to bet over or under. One of the most popular bets is to pick whether over or under 2.5 goals will take place. The bet is often placed by selecting either yes or no.
Both Teams to Score (BTTS): If wanting to bet on both teams to score the equation is simple. If you back both teams to score and they do, your bet will be a winner. If one team fails to find the back of the net, the bet will be a losing one.
With so many available bets, it’s important to remember to bet responsibly. Only bet what you can afford to lose.
Betting Strategies for the FIFA Club World Cup
Picking the winners of who will either win the Club World Cup outright or the outcome of individual matches isn’t straightforward, but thankfully there are lots of strategies you can look to use.
Form: If looking to unpick some of the FIFA Club World Cup stats, the best place to start is by looking at form. Are some teams heading into the tournament in good form or are others searching for that next big result. It would be wise to see how teams have finished the season.
Head-to-Head: Despite this being a rare opportunity where teams from all over the world will square off against one another, there will be some teams that play against each other regularly. Look at the recent head-to-head records to see if one team has an edge over the other.
Players and injuries: Not every team will be able to bring their best squads to the tournament, therefore it is important to study the official list of FIFA Club World Cup players. Game-changing players may be rested through the early part of the tournament, for example—which could obviously impact how a team performs at different phases.
Heat: Where the trophy for the FIFA Club World Cup ends up could come down to which team handles the conditions best. Whether a team plays in the day or night could have an impact, and the conditions should be a serious consideration when placing your bets.

Mobile Betting
Betting on the go is becoming increasingly more popular, and the easiest way to do it is via mobile betting and app betting.
Placing a bet on a mobile device is exceptionally easy, and can sometimes have the added benefit of bonuses that are offered exclusively to mobile customers. Some apps also offer streaming services, meaning you can bet and watch no matter where you are.
Live Betting
Live betting has become incredibly popular because it allows bettors to place their bets as a game is being played. With odds refreshing as often every as ten seconds, many feel that in-play betting allows for more informed decisions than outright bets do.
What is Live Betting?
Offering a wealth of markets as the game is going on, live betting allows you to place bets during a football match. As well as betting on who will win, markets such as total goals, the number of corners and cards and other specials can all be placed in real time. With odds constantly fluctuating, it is a truly thrilling way to bet.
Advantages of Live Betting:
Although various strategies can help determine what bets to place before kickoff, live betting allows you to keep your powder dry and see how the action is unfolding—this could offer a huge advantage if, for example, the favourites for the match are struggling and might not win as easily as first imagined.
With the odds changing as a match develops, many believe that live betting offers better and more realistic odds that deliver a better chance of succeeding.
How to Place Live Bets:
If your chosen bookmaker offers live betting, there should be a dedicated section where these bets can be placed. Often there can be several sports going on at one time, so it’s important to find the match you want to bet on.
Once found, find the bet you want to place and check the odds—you’ll need to be quick, as the odds can change constantly. The price you wanted to back might not be there and if you are slow, you might not get the value you wanted.
Once your bet is locked in, choose your stake and confirm. Your bet should then be locked in.
