About Wimbledon tennis

The Championships, Wimbledon – often better known as just ‘Wimbledon’ – is one of the most prestigious series in world tennis. It was founded way back in 1877 and is held at the All England Lawn Tennis Croquets Club in West London.

Wimbledon is one of the four Grand Slam events along with the US Open, French Open, and Australian Open, which shows you the high company it keeps. Unlike many events, Wimbledon is played on grass. Although it’s held over June and July in the prime of summer, the English weather can sometimes mean play is paused for long periods.

The crowd always get behind local talent, with Tim Henman and Andy Murray both having the hill on the premises named after them (‘Henman Hill’ and ‘Murray Mound’ respectively). Strawberries and cream, Union Jack flags and plenty of bottles of bubbles help set the scene for a special event.

How we ranked the best Wimbledon betting sites

Finding the best Wimbledon men’s tennis betting sites is not easy, partly because it’s such a huge tournament. That means nearly every betting site covers the matches. So, how did we rank the top Wimbledon betting sites?

Here are five of the main things we look for when assessing the strength of Wimbledon betting sites:

  • Tennis markets

It might sound obvious, but I only went for Wimbledon betting sites with a wide range of tennis markets. Most betting sites will cover all of the matches in the tournament, but some of them will offer a wider, more in-depth collection of markets.

  • In-game betting

If, like me, you enjoy betting in-play, this is an important thing to consider when comparing Wimbledon betting sites. I really like in-play Wimbledon tennis betting, giving you the option to bet on every single point. If you’re a fan of bets which pay out quickly, it’s awesome. And I find it is a perfect chance to watch the games live and pick up on small things like a player’s body language, or a nervous atmosphere in the crowd, which could affect the outcome of your Wimbledon tennis bets.

  • Trustworthiness

Going back to basics, it’s essential that any site you think about using to bet on Wimbledon tennis is 100% safe and trustworthy. There are a few key things to look for here, like a valid gambling licence and a spotless company history. Or you can select a Wimbledon betting site from those suggested on this page, which I’ve already vetted for you.

  • Tennis odds

Another fairly obvious but very important aspect is the odds on the game. The bigger the odds, the bigger your returns. If the difference between two sites is only very slight, it can be tempting to dismiss it. But that’s a bad decision. Even fine margins add up over time, and your goal should always be to maximise your profit when betting at Wimbledon.

  • Features

Cool features are what help particular bookies stand out from the sea of Wimbledon betting sites. Look for useful features, whether that’s a great in-play betting layout or app-only special offers.

There are, of course, many other important factors when selecting a Wimbledon betting site. This includes looking for free bets, which give you a chance to win money without taking any risk. Customer service is important, and I always look for Wimbledon betting sites with live chat. And then there’s the banking and withdrawals side, which is super important too.

How do we check betting sites are safe?

When I begin to review a Wimbledon betting site, I start with a deep dive of the company. That includes checking if the owners previously operated under another name, if the gambling licence is valid, and if there is a large number of customer complaints.

Next, I create a new account and deposit, taking advantage of the welcome bonus if it exists. I’ll place bets on tennis matches specifically, both pre-match and in-play, to get a flavour for it. And then I will test the withdrawals to make sure there are no unexpected issues.

The best Wimbledon betting sites in the UK

Now that you understand the review process, you’re probably eager to see the best Wimbledon men’s tennis betting sites. Here are my top five for 2023:

BetUK Tennis

Not only does BetUK cover all types of tennis events, including Wimbledon tennis betting, it also has a tonne of information on them. I’m talking details on major tournaments, FAQs about tennis betting, and a calendar showing all the  best upcoming tennis tournaments. Add to that a neat welcome bonus which can kick-start your Wimbledon tennis betting journey and this looks like a winner.

BoyleSports Tennis

Flashing icons show odds moving up and down in the blink of an eye at Boylesports, which is perfect if you want to bet in-play on Wimbledon tennis. The ‘Highlights’ tab is a useful way to see which tennis markets people are betting on at the moment, and Boylesports incorporates special offers like acca boosts and insurance into their Wimbledon tennis  betting options.

10bet Tennis

There are ten reasons listed on the 10bet site explaining why they’re the guys you want to bet on tennis with – and who are we to argue? For one thing, they have very competitive tennis odds, and the fundamentals are always an important thing to consider. They also offer a wide selection of interesting markets, price up their bets early compared to other Wimbledon betting sites, and deliver insightful statistics which can help you with your betting decisions. What’s not to like?

888sport Tennis

One of the most unique aspects about 888sport is that they can offer you promotions which other Wimbledon betting sites cannot. For example, you may spot an opportunity to place a bet on Wimbledon and unlock a poker bonus, as 888 also operate one of the UK’s best online poker rooms. 888sport covers all types of tennis for both pre-match and in-play betting, and I found the iconic black and orange colour scheme makes it really easy to spot the odds and matches. This can be very important when you’re betting in-play and need to make fast wagers.

LeoVegas Tennis

These days, LeoVegas is about much more than just a few online slots – and you only have to check out their sports welcome bonus to see what I mean. You can grab up to £100 extra on your first bet when you sign up, which could be the perfect wager if you’re looking at Wimbledon betting sites. Imagine backing an outright winner at a different betting site with the same odds, but missing out on a £100 bonus because you didn’t take a look at LeoVegas first.

How to bet on Wimbledon men’s tennis

If you’ve never used a Wimbledon betting site before, don’t worry – it’s very easy, and I’m now going to explain precisely how to bet on Wimbledon tennis matches.

Pre-Match Betting vs. In-Game Betting

Personally, I find in-play betting on Wimbledon tennis matches one of the most exciting (and lucrative) ways to bet. Action is fast, bets pay out quickly, and there are lots of ways to analyse the live matches to get useful information.

But pre-match betting is huge too, especially if you predict an upset. Like last year, when British youngster Emma Raducanu eliminated former French Open-finalist Marketa Vondrousova in the second round.

Is it legal to bet on Wimbledon men’s tennis

It is completely legal to place real-money bets on Wimbledon men’s tennis. That includes outright winners, match outcomes, and in-play betting. As long as you use a site with a valid gambling licence it is completely fine in the UK. You can find my suggestions for the best, fully licenced Wimbledon betting sites right here on this page.

Contacting customer support

If something goes wrong, you want to know that you won’t be put in a difficult situation. I only highlight sites which have excellent customer service, particularly those which have live chat and work round the clock.

Wimbledon men’s tennis betting markets

There are hundreds of markets for Wimbledon men’s tennis at betting sites, and it can be a little overwhelming if you’ve never bet on it before. But I’m here to walk you through your betting options.

Here are three of the most popular Wimbledon betting markets:

  • Outright winner: A bet which can be placed pre-tournament or mid-tournament, the outright winner is a wager on who will lift the coveted Gentlemen's Singles Trophy – or indeed the Venus Rose Water Dish.
  • Match winner: If you don’t want to wait the entire tournament for the outcome of your bet, you can simply bet on the match winner. This is particularly beneficial if you correctly predict an upset.
  • Next point: One of the most exciting in-play bets is who will win the next point. It rarely offers big odds, but can be good fun and you’ll get an almost-instant outcome.

Other great markets include set winner, total games over/under, and both players to win a set yes/no.

Betting types

Here are some of the most common betting types for the Wimbledon Championships 2023:

  • Single: A straight bet on one event, like Novak Djokovic to win his next match.
  • Accumulator: A series of wagers which must ALL be correct in order for the bet to pay out.
  • Trixies & multiples: Similar to an accumulator, but comprised of a series of smaller bets. This means you can get one or two selections wrong and still win your other multiples.
  • Handicap: With handicap betting, one player will start with a make-believe advantage, which is useful for matches where one player is vastly better than the other.

The best Wimbledon betting odds

There are many distractions when browsing different Wimbledon betting sites, but one of the most important things to look for are the odds. Even a site which has slightly better odds than a competitor can make a big difference to your balance over time.

First of all, different Wimbledon betting sites use different odds formats. In the UK, fractional odds are the norm, but some will use decimal or moneyline odds. Choose one you understand well, as mistakes can be costly.

There isn’t one magic bookie which will always have the best odds, so feel free to compare two or three. Sign up to sites which generally have leading odds such as BetUK, BoyleSports, 10bet, 888sport and LeoVegas, then compare odds on the market you choose.

Wimbledon betting features

With so many Wimbledon betting sites to choose from, you have the luxury of picking those with features which benefit you. Here, I’ve highlighted a few of the most important features for Wimbledon betting sites.

  • Live betting: Live betting, or in-play betting, is now a major part of most of our betting patterns. It’s quick, easy, and gives you a taste of the action before you commit your cash to a decision. If, like me, you love live betting, make sure you only play at a Wimbledon betting site which has a top in-play interface. You’ll find links to my recommendations on this page.
  • Live streaming: In addition to live betting, some bookies will allow you to live stream matches. For example, you might place a small bet on the Wimbledon men’s tennis final, and then be able to watch the entire thing for free. This is a very practical option if you don’t have Wimbledon Championships 2023 tennis available through your TV subscription.
  • Cash out: Cashing out early can be a smart decision, so it’s better to choose Wimbledon betting sites which give you the option to terminate the bet early. This can either be to lock in profit or cut your losses, both of which form part of a sensible overall strategy.

Safety and security

I wouldn’t exactly count these as ‘features’ per se, but there are also things you can look for that point to a site being secure and trustworthy. That includes protection of your data, policies on sharing your information with third parties, website encryption and more. The more seriously they take your privacy, the better.

Wimbledon betting site bonuses

Because the Wimbledon Championships 2023 attracts so many punters, there is a lot of competition among UK betting sites to secure your custom – and this is certainly a good thing.

More competition means more offers, and you can take advantage of them all! Check out the ‘Promotions’ tab of Wimbledon betting sites to see what kind of offers they have throughout the tournament. Here are some popular offers you’ll see:

  • Welcome bonus – If you’re new to the site, you can usually join and claim a big offer to kick-start your journey. For example, you might get a 100% deposit bonus on your first real-money deposit.
  • Free bets – These are always welcome for any sport, including Wimbledon tennis betting. Sites will sometimes give you a completely risk-free bet, and you should take advantage of these whenever they pop up.
  • Deposit bonuses – These work by rewarding you with extra betting funds when you make a deposit. During Wimbledon, betting sites may offer these more readily to attract you to bet with them.
  • Boosted odds – Competing with other Wimbledon betting sites, some bookies will offer boosted odds on selected markets. In this case, these are often the best odds available anywhere.
  • Money back – Some sites may offer you money back specials. This could be something like ‘money back if Djokovic wins the men’s Wimbledon Championship’. Consider all money back specials when weighing up your options.

Payment methods

Although it’s important to consider markets and bonuses, the banking choices at Wimbledon betting sites are also important. Here are some of the most popular banking methods:

  • Credit card: Credit cards used to be a popular method for UK betting sites and Wimbledon betting, but they’re now banned.
  • Debit card: One of the easiest ways to deposit and withdraw at Wimbledon betting sites is by debit card. Your details will be saved for easier future transactions.
  • PayPal and e-wallets: It’s common these days to fund Wimbledon betting site accounts via e-wallets like PayPal, Skrill or Neteller. One big benefit is that withdrawals are super quick.
  • Wire transfer: I don’t often use wire transfers, but this is another option which is very safe – albeit a bit slow.
  • Crypto: If you’re comfortable using cryptocurrencies like bitcoin and Ethereum, they make a great choice for wholly digital transactions which are fast and anonymous.

Payouts

Most Wimbledon betting sites allow instant deposits through a variety of methods, but payouts withdrawals will be of much more interest to most of you.

Look out for early payouts, where a bookie will offer money before the conclusion of an event when it looks to be inevitable. And if you like to get your winnings quickly, check out Wimbledon betting sites that offer ‘fast payouts’.

Betting on Wimbledon on Mobile

There are loads of different ways to bet on the Wimbledon Championships 2023, and many of these are now available on your mobile. But which is best?

Really, it comes down to preference. For instance, I usually opt for mobile betting over betting apps. One of the main reasons for this is that I use dozens of different betting sites, and having an app for each would take up a lot of memory on my smartphone. Usually, you just need to enter the usual URL and you’ll be redirected to a special version of the site which is created for mobile.

With that said, some betting apps work better than the mobile sites. And you might even be able to get exclusive promotions through the app which aren’t otherwise available, or access to special in-app features.

If you’re interested in trying a Wimbledon betting app, check out the links provided on this page.

Wimbledon betting strategy

If you want the highest chance of success when betting on Wimbledon at the top sites, you’ll need a strategy in place. And it’s best to plan it in advance.

Below, I’ll walk you through what you should and shouldn’t do when using Wimbledon betting sites.

Betting tips

  • Bankroll management: Sure, it’s not the most exciting thought, but managing your bankroll is crucial to long-term success. Dividing your bankroll into small bets which can last a long time will bring smaller rewards, but it massively decreases the chance of you going broke.
  • Research: Don’t just fly in and make bets without doing your research. Look at the players’ recent results, and read news reports to see if anything has upset their schedule – flight delays, a change in management, and weather which they’re not used to can all affect performance.
  • Adjustments: Always be prepared to adjust if things aren’t going to plan. If you’re on a run of losers, feel free to pause the action until another day. Or decrease the size of your bets until you’re back on track.

What to avoid

  • Betting like a fan: Bet with your head, not your heart. If you find yourself only betting on your favourite players, even when you think they will lose, it’s time to switch strategy.
  • Unplanned wagers: Try not to make unplanned, spontaneous wagers. These are often done on a whim without any real research. Make a betting plan and stick to it.

Other major tennis tournaments

If all this talk about the Wimbledon Championships 2023 has gotten you in the mood for tennis betting, there are plenty of other tournaments you can take a look at:

  • US Open – Started in 1881, the US Open is one of the oldest and most prestigious tournaments in the tennis calendars.
  • Australian Open – Novak Djokovic loves the Australian Open, having won it seven times so far – a world record. The venue sometimes alternates between cities such as Sydney and Perth, and even crosses over to New Zealand on occasion.
  • French Open – Another of the incredible ‘Open’ series, the French Open is known for being played on clay, which means a slower pace and tough conditions.
  • Davis Cup – What began as a simple US vs UK match has spiraled into one of the most revered competitions in international tennis, and it is now the biggest annual international competition for teams in tennis.

Conclusion

Wimbledon tennis betting sites present a wonderful opportunity to make some good profit and have a lot of fun at the same time. Most sites will run special promotions as they compete for your custom, allowing you to rack up some freebies. And the large number of casual bettors can mean more opportunities than usual to snap up good odds.
