Betting on the Euros

The Euros take place every four years and are one of the most popular and most-watched sporting events on the calendar. As a result, online betting sites are often stacked with markets and Euro 2024 specials and boosts.

The most important thing to remember is that betting on the Euros is vastly different to wagering on domestic football. There are a number of things to factor into your Euro betting decisions and preparation and research is absolutely key to successful Euro 2024 betting.

Odds

UEFA Euro 2024 betting markets were priced up by a number of bookmakers following the conclusion of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. During the early stages, these markets were largely priced up based  on the history of the competition as well as favouring those nations who had impressed in the aforementioned 2022 World Cup. As we’ve edged closer to the tournament, the outright odds have changed based on which sides have qualified for the tournament with the Euro 2024 betting markets shifting again once the draw for the group stage was conducted in December 2023.

Here at Mansion Bet, we’ve picked out the best online Euro 2024 betting sites, however, you’d struggle to find a betting site which doesn’t offer odds on the tournament winner market.

Most betting sites are largely in agreement when it comes to the outright winner market although the Euro 2024 odds may vary between operators. France have been a popular option due to their performance in recent international tournaments, coupled with their star-studded roster, however, England have overtaken them as favourites and hosts Germany have also been backed in following some impressive early-2024 performances.

Odds may fluctuate at any stage and this may be due to volume of money being placed on a team (a bookmaker may shorten the price on France if too many punters are placing money on Les Bleus), key injury updates or a potential managerial change. 90 minute match odds tend to fluctuate regularly, yet outright odds for major international tournaments tend to do this less frequently.

Odds reflect the probability of the occurrence of an event, therefore, if you spot the odds on a team beginning to inflate, it’s always important to stop and ask why this country may be proving unpopular with punters.

Nevertheless, it’s always important to shop around and seek out the best football Euro 2024 odds before placing a bet.

Most Popular Markets

When it comes to betting on UEFA Euro 2024, there are ample markets to choose from. Outright or ante-post markets tend to be very popular with punters and the majority of the bets on these tend to be placed pre-tournament. Nevertheless, many online betting sites now tend to keep these open for anyone who fancies a mid-tournament flutter.

Tournament Winner

This is easily the most popular way to bet on Euro 2024 and it isn’t uncommon to hear people ask questions such as ‘Is this England’s year?’, or ‘Can Germany be successful on home soil?’.

This market is often priced up years in advance and although it is likely to change once each of the nations has secured their qualification, you can pretty guarantee that the biggest nations will be in attendance so placing an early ante-post bet is a great way to get ahead of the crowd and ensure that you’ve pledged your support to your chosen team.

Many Euro 2024 betting sites also offer each-way terms on this market which gives you scope to back a team at bigger odds as you’ll be paid out at ½ the odds if your team reaches the final yet falls agonisingly short.

Stage of Elimination

If you’re seeking out alternative tournament markets, this may be a decent option. These Euro 2024 betting markets are available with the majority of our recommended sites and require you to predict at which stage of the tournament your chosen side will exit. If you fancy a shock, then this could be a good way to potentially monetise your prediction. At Euro 2020, you would have got decent odds on Turkey and Poland to be eliminated at the end of the group stage and anyone who had wagered on either France or Portugal to leave the tournament at the end of the round of 16 would also have cashed in.

These markets are ideal for backing those perceived bigger nations to make an early exit, or alternatively for an unfancied team to exceed expectations.

Top Goalscorer

This is another popular option for ante-post bettors. Working out the identity of the tournament’s top goalscorer can be tricky, but potentially lucrative. It’s strongly advised to look for those players who are still likely to be involved during the latter stages of the tournament as they have a greater chance of adding to their tally.

Ensuring that your top goalscorer bet is an each-way wager is strongly advised as most bookmakers will pay out if your player finishes in the top three and it isn’t uncommon for players to share the Golden Boot. In 2020, both Cristiano Ronaldo and Patrik Schick finished the tournament with five goals.

It’s also advised to only bet on players who are likely to be guaranteed starters as well as those who have a decent record of avoiding injury. UEFA Euro 2024 will follow on from another hectic domestic campaign across Europe, so it’s important to ensure that your chosen player in this market is fighting fit and isn’t carrying any niggles or pre-existing ailments.

Group Winner

With the draw having been completed in December 2023, each of the qualified teams now knows who they will be facing in Germany this summer. The group winner market is a great way to enjoy a pre-tournament flutter, particularly if you’re expecting one or two upsets along the way.

Some groups are much harder to predict than others. At Euro 2020, Group H contained France, Germany and Portugal and was extremely tough to call. This made the group winners odds very interesting and some punters were keen to leave this section out of their Group Winner multiples.

Outright Accumulators

Although placing single bets on the majority of these outright Euro betting markets is the most common method amongst Euro 2024 punters, pre-tournament accumulators are also a great way of keeping an interest across the entire competition.

Outright accumulators consist of multiple selections - you may wish to include a tournament winner, a top goalscorer and a group winner. If each of these legs is successful, you will receive an extremely decent payout. Most online betting sites will also boost your potential returns.

Pre-tournament accumulators are particularly popular with those who enjoy betting on the group winner markets. Here, you can combine several selections as you aim to predict the winner of each section.

Team vs Team betting

If you’d prefer to wait until the tournament gets underway before doing the majority of your Euro 2024 betting, then the Team A vs Team B markets are a decent way of getting involved. Each of the matches will be priced up throughout the tournament with hundreds of markets available for each of the group stage games. Many UK bookmakers have already priced up a handful of the opening matches including the tournament opener between Germany and Scotland.

You aren’t restricted to simply predicting which sides will triumph. Euro 2024 betting sites have odds available on the number of goals, the number of corners, the number of player shots as well as 5/10/15/30 minute markets. Most bookmakers will also have boosts or enhanced prices available on selected markets and they will also allow you to create your own single match accumulator (for example: 6+ shots on target, 3+ goals and 14+ corners).

As soon as a team has completed their opening fixture, their next game is likely to be priced up, so you can potentially grab some early value before the fluctuations take place.

Strategies & Betting Tips

There are plenty of betting tips available for both the outright markets and the individual matches, but in my experience, it’s vitally important to use your own intuition and knowledge. There are a number of written previews and content available online and also on social media, so you won’t be short of information and you should use these to formulate your own bets.

Although it shouldn’t shape your bet, it is important to watch the market and try to understand why the money may be moving the odds in a particular direction.

Try to take advantage of bookmaker generosity at this time of year (although ensure that you read the Ts and Cs) as you’re likely to find ample Euro 2024 offers and promotions popping up in the days leading up to the tournament.

Although previous tournament form can often be overstated, it’s important to note those nations who are entering the competition with the same manager or a similar XI. Those who are largely unchanged from four years ago may be taking a similar approach to Euro 2024 and that could prove to be a decent betting angle.

Finally, it’s important to watch every game if possible. You’ll be able to get an idea of how each side is performing and which players are looking a bit jaded from playing a high number of matches in such a short period of time. Going with your gut is important and if a bet doesn’t feel right or you have any concerns, then it’s best to look elsewhere and pick an alternative bet.

Bonuses and Promotions

Most Euro 2024 bookmakers will launch additional bonuses and promotions ahead of the tournament this summer. However, if you can’t wait until the preceding weeks, then you can still take advantage of one of the many generous welcome bonuses that we have highlighted here on mansionbet.com.

These can be used to bet on any of the outright markets and are a good way of using your bonus funds.

As we get closer to UEFA Euro 2024, many bookmakers will increase their welcome offers or provide Euro-specific sign-up promotions which are a great way to get started with a brand-new betting site.

Some sites will significantly boost the price of popular selections. Ahead of Euro 2020, many operators enhanced the price on Harry Kane to finish as the top tournament goal-scorer whereas others were doubling the price of France in the outright market. If you have a strong pre-tournament fancy, it can sometimes be best to wait and see if you can get some additional value this way.

It’s also worth looking out for match-specific bonuses with some bookmakers doing a ‘Bet X and Get X’ promotion on selected matches throughout the tournament

Euro 2024 Bookmakers

Here at Mansion Bet, we have put together a comprehensive list of UEFA Euro 2024 bookmakers. We’ve only included those who offer an excellent overall betting experience and we hope that our selection will help you decide which of these operators to sign up for.

Our experts have sampled each of these bookmakers and you can read in-depth reviews of our chosen operators here at mansionbet.com.

Betzone

Betzone

Betzone is operated by Megabet, who were responsible for a number of popular bookmakers including Stan James. As a result, they have plenty of experience in the industry despite being a relatively new name to the majority of UK punters.

Betzone have a number of sports available on their site, yet they do tend to prioritise football, which is excellent news for those who wish to sign up for an account ahead of Euro 2024.

They have had the outright market priced up for several months and navigating between sections is exceptionally straightforward. Their orange and black livery is eye-catching and the green font, which has been used for the odds, makes the site easy to read. For those wishing to place an in-play wager, the live betting section can be located easily and extremely user-friendly.

Betzone have a number of promotions listed on their site and they have a generous welcome bonus which is available for all new players who sign up for an account. Furthermore, they have a section of the site which is dedicated to previews and stats and this could prove to be exceptionally handy throughout Euro 2024.

Jeffbet

Jeffbet

Jeffbet was launched in 2022 and has become a popular UK bookmaker. They offer a free £30 bet for all new players who sign up for an account and bet £10. This comes in the form of 1x £30 free bet and it can be difficult to know what to do with this amount of money, however, if you are planning on signing up for an account during Euro 2024, you are unlikely to be short of options!

Jeffbet is one of the most generous bookmakers on the market and their promotions page is littered with offers. They have regular cash-back promotions as well as free bet Mondays. During the 2022 World Cup, they launched a special Cashback offer for those who were betting on the tournament and we hope to see them repeat this incentive throughout Euro 2024.

Jeffbet’s site takes a little getting used to, however, once you have become accustomed to the layout and the navigation, you’ll be able to freely move between markets.

Jeffbet have a wide range of sports betting options, yet they have undoubtedly prioritised football and that bodes well ahead of Euro 2024

Sportingbet

Sportingbet

Sportingbet have been in existence since 1998 and they have built up a loyal base of UK punters over the last 20+ years. They don’t do anything particularly flashy, yet they are reliable and offer a decent outlet for those who regularly wish to place online wagers.

Sportingbet’s welcome bonus requires you to complete four challenges in order to receive a bonus of £50. Although this may seem like hard work, if you’re a regular bettor and you want to have a weekend flutter on sports including football and horse racing whilst enjoying the occasional dabble on the online casino, then you’ll soon meet the criteria and find yourself with £50 in additional free bets to use.

Sportingbet’s interface is simple and straightforward. Their site design is unfussy and is a bit of a throwback to the early-2000s, however, they have hundreds of football markets available on a daily basis and they also have a downloadable mobile app which is compatible with both iOS and Android devices.

Although they do not boast many promotions, they do offer enhanced odds on accumulators and are likely to offer regular boosts on selected markets throughout the course of Euro 2024

RhinoBet

RhinoBet

RhinoBet launched during the global pandemic and is a unique bookmaker which aims to offer something a little different. Although their welcome offer has shrunk over the last 12 months, there is still a chance to claim a free £5 bet and this can be used on any market.

RhinoBet’s strength lies in the sheer quantity of betting markets available and the number of in-play betting opportunities that are currently listed on the site. The design of the site is similar to Betzone and that means that it is easy on the eye and very simple to navigate. That allows punters to reach their intended destination very easily.

RhinoBet regularly had standout odds on a number of football markets and that is likely to continue throughout the summer. They have ample in-play markets available (above average), so if you’re planning to frequently place live bets on matches at Euro 2024, then RhinoBet might be a favourable option.

Although I think that they could potentially expand their promotions and offers, I’m fairly confident that RhinoBet will launch a specific Euro 2024 bonus or will provide regular enhancements on selected markets, so it’s undoubtedly worth keeping an eye out for this.

StarSports

StarSports

Star Sports originally began life as an on-track bookmaker and is strongly associated with horse racing and greyhound racing. Despite this, they have vastly improved and expanded their football betting markets in recent years and have a really strong offering when it comes to betting on major international tournaments.

Star Sports may not immediately appeal to a casual punter as there is a distinct lack of promotions, however, they are frequently amongst the standout odds when it comes to betting on football and they have a news section which boasts a strong line-up of experts plus additional audio analysis in the form of podcasts. This level of insight could prove to be invaluable during Euro 2024.

Star Sports’ site is easy to navigate and the design of the site is very pleasing on the eye

10Bet

10Bet

10Bet has become an established name in the UK over the last decade and they are renowned for their expansive football offering. They understand the importance of providing their players with ample betting opportunities and there are likely to be plenty of markets available ahead of Euro 2024. Throughout the 2022 World Cup, 10Bet relaunched their welcome offer and added several promotions to their site. We hope that they will recreate this ahead of the tournament getting underway in June.

Players who sign up for a 10Bet account will get the opportunity to claim a 50% of their initial deposit (up to £50), so there is the potential to acquire £25 of free bets. These could come in very handy throughout the tournament.

10Bet’s odds were frequently competitive and their mobile app is speedy and slick. They are an ideal bookmaker for betting on UEFA Euro 2024

AK Bets

AK Bets

AK Bets was created by former professional punter Anthony Kaminskas and although they are a familiar name to UK racegoers, they are still a relatively new name to online football bettors.

Nevertheless, they have created an extremely slick site and a user-friendly interface. Ahead of its launch, Kaminskas spoke about his frustrations with existing online sportsbooks and he’s done a good job of creating a functional and enjoyable interface.

AK Bets doesn’t do promotions. That is disappointing, however, they are regularly top price on a number of markets, so if you’re a punter who prefers obtaining value to offers and promotions, then this site could be ideal.

Live betting is another strength of AK Bets and throughout Euro 2024, I’d expect to see hundreds of in-play markets alongside additional and exclusive markets.

AK Bets doesn’t do gimmicks. This is a site for those who are serious about betting on Euro 2024 and there will be plenty of markets to choose from on a daily basis.

New UK bookmaker

SBK

SBK

SBK is operated by Smarkets and it is unique in the fact that it is the only mobile-only bookmaker on this list. A large number of punters in the UK exclusively bet using their mobile device these days, so it makes sense and is quite a futuristic attitude.

As a result, they’ve been able to concentrate on ensuring that their mobile app is top class and offers everything that bettors could want.

It is easy to download and get started with SBK. The £30 welcome bonus will give you a decent head start when it comes to betting on Euro 2024 this summer and I was suitably impressed by the range of football markets listed on their site.

SBK have a number of unique features on their site including the SBK Betting Zone which features a range of experts from across a variety of sports offering their expert analysis and insight. This could prove to be useful throughout Euro 2024 and there are also a range of podcasts to choose from too

Planet Sport Bet

Planet Sport Bet

Planet Sport has long been associated with in-depth and accurate football coverage and you’d be right to assume that their betting site reflects their wide-ranging output.

New customers can claim a £10 free bet when they sign up and bet £10 and although this isn’t one of the most generous welcome bonuses on the market, it is a useful way to get some extra cash to use on Euro 2024. It is laid out in a similar way to many of our recommended betting sites and I found it easy to navigate between markets. The colour scheme is eye-catching and I also enjoyed downloading and using the mobile app.

Planet Sport Bet have regular offers on big matches including Champions League and Europa League games in which punters can get up to £20 if they place a bet and the match delivers on a predetermined criteria (BTTS, Overs, Unders etc). I’d imagine this will continue throughout Euro 2024 and I'm looking forward to seeing some of their offers during the tournament.

This UK-based sportsbook knows the importance of football and what their players require when it comes to major tournaments. I’d expect some decent content and some brilliant offers to be launched this summer

BetGoodWin

BetGoodWin

BetGoodWin has a strong association with horse racing and they do tend to prioritise these markets, however, do not let this put you off signing up for an account.

Although they don’t heavily advertise their football markets, there are actually plenty of competitions, leagues and tournaments priced up and the range of bets available on these is highly impressive.

Sadly, the welcome bonus is only available on horse racing markets, which is a bit of a blow for football punters. There aren’t any football-specific betting markets currently listed on the site, although this could potentially change ahead of UEFA Euro 2024.

I like the design of the BetGoodWin site and I did find their football odds to be very competitive. Unfortunately, football plays second fiddle to horse racing here

Euro 2024 Betting Features

Betting features are vitally important to the enjoyment of an online bookmaker. Most betting sites have these in abundance and you’ll be pleased to know that many of these can be used in conjunction with your UEFA Euro 2024 bets this summer.

  • Cash Out: Cash Out is a popular feature which is available with the majority of bookmakers including Betzone and 10Bet. This allows you to collect a portion of your winnings before the match has concluded. This is particularly handy if you’re worried about the prospect of a late equaliser or if you’ve placed a bet on a match to end all-square and you’re worried about one of the two sides snatching a late winner. At Euro 2020, Switzerland scored two late goals to draw 3-3 with France (eventually knocking them out on penalties). If you’d backed Didier Deschamps’ side to be victorious, you could have cashed out prior to the 89th minute and you would have been able to collect some of your winnings and been able to relax for the remainder of the contest. Cash Out can also be particularly handy when it comes to accumulators and multiple bets.
  • Live Streaming: Sadly, Live Streaming isn’t available with all UK bookmakers, but for those who offer this feature, it’s hugely beneficial to football punters. It enables you to watch live pictures from a variety of sporting events around the globe, including international football competitions. This is particularly handy for mobile users who cannot watch Euro 2024 on TV or those who want to keep up-to-date with the momentum of their chosen match.
  • Request a Bet / Create a Bet / Build a Bet: This feature goes by several different names and tends to vary between online bookmakers. Essentially, this allows you to put together your own bespoke bet on any Euro 2024 match. You can choose between several different markets including goals, corners, shots, tackles as well as match result. It is easy to begin assembling your bet and if you’re settling down to watch one of the many UEFA Euro 2024 matches this summer, you’ll be able to check on the progress of your bet at any stage during the 90 minutes. If you add enough selections into your bet, you can potentially win life-changing sums of money.
  • Live Betting: Live betting is an extremely popular way of betting. It will be an integral part of the Euro 2024 betting experience for many punters. With every match being televised in the UK, there is an opportunity to assess the momentum and spot any changes in shape/tactics. If you think you can predict what happens next, then live betting provides the perfect platform to act on your hunch. Most UK bookmakers offer hundreds of live betting markets on each Euro 2024 contest. Additional odds will become available throughout the 90 minutes too.
  • Price Boosts and Enhancements: Throughout the competition, many online bookmakers will boost the odds on several markets or popular bets. For example, some operators may enhance the price on England to win Euro 2024 ahead of the tournament getting underway. On a match-by-match basis, some betting sites are likely to boost the price of popular selections such as ‘France to Win and Kylian Mbappe to Score First’. These provide a great way to pick up a better price and hopefully increase your returns.

Euro 2024 Futures/Outright Betting

When it comes to betting on major international competitions, outright betting is an exceptionally popular way to play. Identifying the winner of a tournament several months in advance will not only prove potentially lucrative, it will also give you something to boast about to your family and friends!

There are a number of outright markets available with UK bookmakers with the majority of these becoming available once the groups have been drawn and the play-offs have concluded.

Whether you fancy predicting the tournament winner, the top goalscorer or you have a feeling that one of the underdogs will exceed all expectations, then you can always find an outright market to fulfil your betting requirements.

Euro 2024 Structure

Euro 2024 gets underway on June 14th with hosts Germany facing Scotland at the hugely impressive Allianz Arena in Munich. The tournament concludes a month later with the final taking place at the Olympiastadion in Berlin.

Games will be spread across ten venues including Dortmund’s Westfalenstadion and the Volksparkstadion in Hamburg. There will be 24 teams competing with each of those nations hoping to reach the showpiece event on July 14th 2024.

Tournament

As is tradition, UEFA Euro 2024 begins with the hosts. Germany will play their first Group A match against Scotland on June 14th.

Throughout the group stage, there will be three matches per day kicking off at 3pm UK, 6pm UK and 9pm UK. This is brilliant news for the majority of punters with the majority of matches taking place at fairly sociable times.

The final set of group games will take place simultaneously. Each of these encounters will either kick off at 6pm UK or 9pm UK.

The 24 teams have been split into six groups. Each of these sections contains four nations. The top two teams in each group will progress to the knock-out stage of the competition with four of the six third-place sides also moving to the round of 16. The classification of the third-place teams will be determined by points, goal difference, goals scored, wins, best disciplinary record (in that exact order).

The knock-out stages get underway on June 29th with the eight round of 16 matches taking place across a four-day period. The quarter finals will be held on July 5th-6th with the semi-finals taking place four days later.

The final will be held in Berlin on July 14th and kicks off at 9pm UK time.

The Playoffs

At the time of writing, there are three spots still available at Euro 2024 this summer. Twelve teams will compete for the three spots with these crucial play-off matches taking place at the end of March.

Euro 2024 Groups

Group A

Hosts Germany will kick off Group A and they will be aiming to put their recent poor performances firmly behind them. Under the stewardship of Julien Nagelsmann, the hosts will be expected to progress to the final four, although their squad undoubtedly has plenty of weaknesses and although they will be widely expected to finish top of this section, the UEFA Euro 2024 outright odds suggest that they could fall short of clinching the title on home soil.

Hungary have previously caused problems for Germany and they will be hoping to qualify for the knock-out stages. They were drawn alongside Germany, Portugal and France at Euro 2020 and gave a good account of themselves. The draw has been much kinder to them this time around.

Scotland have become a regular participant at international tournaments under Steve Clarke and will be typically tough to beat. The Scots beat both Norway and Spain during the qualifiers and are unlikely to go down without a fight.

Switzerland are a regular face at the European Championships and tend to bow out at the round of 16 stage. They’ve managed to get out of the group stage at the last two tournaments and reached the final eight in 2020.

Group B

Spain are the headline act in Group B and their young squad should give a good account of themselves. With Gavi, Ferran Torres and Joselu all providing goal threats alongside the evergreen Alvaro Morata, La Roja should score plenty of goals this summer.

Italy were victorious in 2020, although the odds suggest that a repeat success is unlikely. They weren’t particularly convincing during the qualifiers although Luciano Spalletti is a competent coach who should make his side competitive during the group stage. They still perhaps lack a focal point and Spalletti has bemoaned his lack of striking options.

Croatia were also drawn alongside Spain at Euro 2020 and they find themselves competing with La Roja once again. Croatia’s squad isnt getting any younger and they’ll be hoping that Luka Modric can roll back the years and finish his international career on a high.

Albania are competing in just their second European Championship and are led by former Arsenal player Sylvinho. They are massive underdogs here, but they should thrive upon that status.

Group C

England head into this tournament as joint-favourites with many Euro 2024 betting sites. Gareth Southgate’s side reached the final of Euro 2020 before just falling short. Some critics suggest that Southgate is able to easily mastermind the group stage, yet his cautious approach often hinders the Three Lions against better sides. England have a few injury issues to resolve ahead of this tournament, yet they should easily progress.

Denmark were surprise winners back in 1992 and having reached the semi-final stage four years ago, they will be fancied to progress from Group C. The Danes scored 12 times at Euro 2020 and their young squad will be full of energy. Rasmus Hojlund has had a mixed campaign atManchester United although this could be his chance to answer his critics.

Slovenia and Denmark were drawn alongside one another in the qualifiers and they will face one another once more in Germany. The former picked up some decent results during the qualifying stage and didn’t concede many goals. They could be tougher than expected.

Serbia could be a bit of a wildcard. They are undoubtedly talented going forward yet they seem to lack discipline at the back. Without doubt, they will be fun to watch.

Group D

Joint-favourites France have been drawn alongside the Netherlands in Group D. Les Bleus have maintained the majority of their talented squad which reached the 2022 World Cup final in Qatar. Didier Deschamps is an excellent international manager and his side always find a way to progress. They were a touch disappointing at Euro 2020 and will be looking to bounce back here.

Netherlands have quietly improved under the returning Ronald Koeman. The Oranje are always entertaining to watch, although they were a little naive when facing losing twice to France during the qualifiers. Koeman’s men should get through the group stage, yet they perhaps lack the nous to go beyond the final four.

Austria are an intriguing prospect under Ralph Hasenhuttl. They beat Sweden twice during qualifying and also took a point off Belgium. They have some decent players and could be the side to benefit should either France or the Netherlands underperform.

Poland snuck through qualifying on penalties. They barely created anything against Wales and will need to be significantly better going forward here. Robert Lewandowski tends to struggle at these tournaments so they may need to look elsewhere for their firepower this summer

Group E

Belgium have been seemingly handed a winnable section at Euro 2024. Domenico Tedesco is the head coach and it’ll be interesting to see if the Red Devils are a little more streetwise than they were under his predecessor Roberto Martinez. They scored plenty of goals during qualifying and with Kevin de Bruyne pulling the strings in midfield, they should create plenty of chances.

Romania were one of the surprise packages during qualifying and although they’ve only ever progressed once from the group stage of this tournament, they’ll be feeling confident of sneaking their way into the round of 16. They went unbeaten during the qualifying stage, and although they were given a relatively easy passage, they did manage to avoid defeat twice against Switzerland.

Slovakia couldn’t get the better of Portugal, yet they were clearly second best during qualifying. This is their third appearance at the tournament in their current guise and they did progress to the round of the 16 back in 2016. Very little is expected of them here.

Very few people will begrudge Ukraine’s inclusion at this tournament. Serhiy Rebrov’s side may not be the most naturally talented side, but they will fight for the cause and as they displayed in the play-offs, they rarely know when they are beaten.

Group F

Portugal always seem to get drawn in the final group at these competitions and once again, they find themselves in Group F. Now managed by Roberto Martinez, we expect to see their attacking qualities unleashed and they eased past their opponents during qualifiers. A lot of talk will be about whether Cristiano Ronaldo can still compete at the highest level and the 39-year old will be hoping to lead his side to victory this summer.

Turkey were labelled as one of the dark horses ahead of Euro 2020, however, they stunk the place out and made an early exit from the tournament. They look to be a little stronger this time around and should be able to give a good account of themselves. They lost just once during qualifying and their performances were very controlled.

Czech Republic are regulars at this tournament and they will be hoping to progress in Germany at Euro 2024. They sneaked into the quarter finals in 2020, however, they were helped by being drawn in a very straightforward qualifying group. This is likely to be tougher.

Very people expected Georgia to make it through to Euro 2024 and they will be hoping to defy expectations in Germany this summer. Willy Sagnol’s side are brilliant on their own patch, yet they haven’t been as effective on their travels. Napoli’s Khvich Kvaratskhelia is likely to be the star of the show and the Georgians must prove that they are far from a one-man team

About Euro 2024

Euro 2024 will be the 17th edition of the international tournament and will take place in Germany. ThIs is the third time that this event has been held in Germany with the matches taking place at ten different stadiums. Nine of the ten stadiums were also used when they staged the 2006 World Cup. This is the second consecutive tournament at which Bayern’s stadium will host international football having also been selected as one of the venues for Euro 2020.

Stadiums

  • Olympiastadion (capacity - 74,461)
  • Fussball Arena Munchen (capacity - 70,076)
  • Westfalenstadion, Dortmund (capacity - 65,849)
  • Stuttgart Arena (capacity - 54,906)
  • Frankfurt Arena (capacity - 54,897)
  • Arena AufSchalke, Gelsenkirchen (capacity 54,740)
  • Volksparkstadion, Hamburg (capacity 52,245)
  • Dusseldorf Arena (capacity 51,031)
  • Cologne Stadium (capacity 49.827)
  • Leipzig Stadium (capacity 42,959)

Several stadiums which host regular Bundesliga football were not selected to host matches this summer.

Every single one of the qualified teams has previously taken part in the European Championships, although Albania and Slovenia are competing in just their second tournament. If either Estonia or Kazakhstan manage to progress from the play-offs, they will be making their European Championship debut.

The official slogan of the tournament will be “United by Football” with the official logo having also been announced. The logo featured 24 coloured slices which represents the 24 nations competing in the tournament.

The official mascot of the tournament is a teddy bear and following a public vote, it was named Albart.

The official tournament match ball was manufactured by Adidas and is called the ‘Fussballiebe’ which roughly translates as ‘love of football’. It has been created using bio-based materials and is the first of its kind to feature connected ball technology, which should help officials when making crucial decisions at the tournament.

Our Euro 2024 Predictions

We’re looking forward to UEFA Euro 2024 and we’re expecting an entertaining and high-scoring tournament.

We’re expecting France to continue their excellent record at major tournaments with Les Bleus expected to reach the latter stages once again. There will be a heap of expectation on England, but I’m not sure they will pick up their first-ever success in 2024. Gareth Southgate’s side are talented, but their mentally in the big games has been questioned.

There’s been quite a lot of change for hosts Germany and the fact that they haven’t played many competitive games over the last couple of years could count against them. Spain are potentially exciting and holders Italy will be typically tough to beat. Portugal will be a lot more attack-minded under Roberto Martinez whereas the Netherlands could be undone by the fact they’ve been drawn in a tough group.

There are a number of potential underdogs who could progress beyond the round of 16. Scotland are always tough to break down and as long as Steve Clarke’s side stay largely injury-free, they should be able to make a good go of it. Denmark are a good side and cannot be dismissed and we can’t completely dismiss Romania, who have been drawn in a favourable section.

It is likely to be Cristiano Ronaldo’s final appearance at the European Championships and although the Al Nassr star is unlikely to finish as the tournament’s top goalscorer, he will undoubtedly have a say and could be on penalty duty. Goncalo Ramos and Bruno Fernandes are interesting options in the top goalscorer market, especially as the pair will be playing in a Roberto Martinez team.

Rasmus Holjund picked up an injury in March, but he should be back to full fitness in time for mid-June. Ferran Torres has been in good form and could be Spain’s main threat whereas Cody Gakpo could build on a positive first season in the Premier League.

It’s going to be a fascinating four weeks of action and we cannot wait for Euro 2024 to kick off.
