Premier League Matchday 21A Preview: Man United Could be Worth a Bet

The Premier League’s thirst to keep the bandwagon rolling means fans will be treated to five games this weekend despite being in the midst of a ‘winter break’.

While this halves the wagering opportunities for sports bettors, there is enough on the agenda that we can sink our punting teeth into.

With that in mind, read on as we look at some of the best Premier League games for the first half of Matchday 21 to highlight the key betting angles to consider.

Highlights

  • Take advantage of the over 1.5 goals market.
  • Man United offer value in the top six race.
  • Burnley set for more misery.

Over 1.5 Goals Market Worth Chancing Again

A goalless draw between West Ham United and Brighton & Hove Albion ended our hopes of exploiting the over 1.5 goals for the third consecutive week.

The games at Burnley, Chelsea, Newcastle United, Everton and Manchester United are all fancied to have at least two goals or more this weekend.

Odds of around 7/4 for the five-fold on football betting sites are a little stingy but should still deliver a winning return to punters.

Manchester United Offer Value in the Top Six Market

The current five teams look well-placed to fill those positions at the end of the season, but who will finish in sixth place is less clear-cut.

West Ham are sixth heading into Matchday 21, three points ahead of Brighton and Manchester United. Newcastle, Chelsea and Wolverhampton Wanderers are not too far behind.

Odds of 15/8 on UK betting apps for Man United to claim a top six spot look decent value given their injuries issues finally appear to be easing.

Burnley Worth a Punt in the ‘Finish Bottom’ Market

Having spent around £100 million on new players after winning promotion, Burnley were expected to steer clear of the relegation battle this season.

However, they are firmly entrenched in the bottom three, with manager Vincent Kompany looking completely out his depth as a top-flight manager.

With Sheffield United likely to improve under Chris Wilder, the Clarets look overpriced at odds of 4/1 on UK betting sites to finish bottom of the table.
