Lucky Punter Scoops Bumper Payout with an Eye-Watering Acca

The start of 2024 was memorable for one lucky punter, who picked out a spectacular five-horse accumulator to bag more than £108,000.

His each-way bet featured three selections at Cheltenham and two at Musselburgh, all of which won their respective races at attractive odds.

Read on as we look at how the punter left one of the top betting sites bemoaning their luck after landing one of the most eye-catching wagers in recent memory.

Highlights

  • Benson gets bet off to a flyer.
  • Stage Star flop keeps things rolling.
  • Butch digs deep in the final leg.

First Two Legs Land Without a Hitch

Benson (4/1) kicked things off with a fine front-running display at Musselburgh to secure victory in a handicap hurdle under jockey Ryan Mania.

Stumptown (5/1) made it two-out-of-two in a handicap chase at Cheltenham, drawing clear on the run-in for an impressive five lengths victory.

Things looked a little more complicated in the next leg, with a Paul Nicholls-trained horse heavily backed to win another handicap chase.

Stage Star Fluffs his Lines to Keep the Bet Alive

Having won the Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham in November, Stage Star was strongly fancied to follow up in a 2m4½f handicap chase at the same venue.

However, he made several mistakes before being pulled up, which allowed Shakem Up'Arry (11/2) to stay on well up the hill to keep the bet alive.

Fidelio Vallis (7/1) then made all to impressively win a competitive handicap chase at Musselburgh, setting up a nervy last leg for the punter.

Bowen Delivers the Goods Aboard Butch

Have taken the odds of 7/1 available on horse racing betting sites earlier in the day, the punter will have been happy to see Butch backed into 7/2 to win the three-mile handicap hurdle at Cheltenham.

The horse was always prominent under jockey James Bowen and appeared set to claim a comfortable victory when leading at the second last flight.

However, he was forced to dig deep in the home straight and was all out to secure a narrow win to land the memorable five-fold for the punter.
