Numerous betting apps reported a flurry of support for Vanillier after the handicapper allocated him 10st 8lb for the Grand National.
That mark is just two pounds higher than last year, when he finished two-and-a-quarter lengths behind Corach Rambler.
Punters believe the 9lb swing on the 2023 winner will tip the scales in Vanillier’s favour and he is now priced at 8/1 to emerge victorious this year.
Corach Rambler (11st 2lb) can be backed at odds of 12/1, while Mahler Mission (11st 1lb), Monbeg Genius (10st 4lb) and Noble Yeats (11st 8lb) are also prominent in the betting.
Looking further down the list, Mr Incredible could attract plenty of attention from each-way punters in the run-up to the race after being weighted at 10st 7lb.
That is just three pounds higher than last year’s Grand National, where he was moving nicely into contention after the Canal Turn on the second circuit before unseating his rider.
Top Irish trainer Willie Mullins notably said he was ‘happy with his work at home’ after the weights were announced. On that basis, odds of 28/1 look tempting.
