Following a thumping win over Croatia in Dallas, England's World Cup journey continues against Ghana in Boston.

Thomas Tuchel's side did show defensive frailties but they also demonstrated their teeth in attack and looked particularly potent in front of goal, prevailing 4-2 against the Croats.

They take on a Ghana side who were not expected to do too much at this World Cup but their opening game win against Panama will give them some belief.

Both sides know a win will see them through to the knockout rounds and this could be an entertaining one.

England games are always tracked keenly by punters and World Cup betting sites, making this one another massive 2026 FIFA World Cup fixture.

England vs Ghana Analysis

England

For the Three Lions, the first game of the campaign against Croatia was always going to be key and they passed the test with aplomb.

In this one against Ghana, they will be able to play with a touch less pressure, now that they have three points on the board.

Sorting out a couple of issues defensively will be the key goal for Thomas Tuchel but he knows he has a very good squad to pick from.

He may choose to shuffle the pack or look for continuity but regardless of who he plays, England should have enough to beat Ghana in the eyes of most World Cup prediction outlets.

Team News: Tino Livramento has been replaced by Trevoh Chalobah in the squad.

Predicted Lineup: Pickford, Konsa, Stones, James, O'Reilly, Anderson, Rice, Bellingham, Madueke, Rashford & Kane.

Ghana

Jubliant scenes accompanied Ghana's late win over Panama in Toronto and as a result, they look to be in a decent position to reach the last 32.

They do however, know that their toughest two games are still to come in Group L and this will be a real test of their resolve.

Pace is at the heart of the Ghanaian threat, particularly in wide areas, with Antoine Semenyo sure to be their key outlet.

This is a free hit for Ghana but they may struggle to have enough in the tank to beat England.

Team News: Ghana have a fully fit squad to choose from here.

Predicted Lineup: Zigi, Mensah, Opoku, Adjetey, Senaya, Yirenkyi, Owusu, Semenyo, Sulemana, Nuamah & Ayew.

England vs Ghana Stats and Trends

  • H2H - This is only the second ever meeting between the sides, with the last coming 15 years ago at Wembley.
  • England are currently top of Group L on goals scored, ahead of Ghana..
  • Ghana are looking to progress from the World Cup group stage for the first time since 2010.
  • Harry Kane is currently tied with Gary Lineker for most English World Cup goals (10).

England vs Ghana Prediction

With both teams knowing a win would see them progress to the knockout rounds, this one could be very entertaining in Boston.

England played with increased freedom in the second half against Croatia, something that helped them hugely in getting over the line.

They should be buoyed by that and look to continue that mantra here against Ghana.

For the Ghanaians, staying in the game for as long as possible will be their aim and the longer it goes on, the more they will fancy their chances of causing an upset.

That feels unlikely though, England to be winning at HT and FT looks good value at 3/5, while Harry Kane to continue his goal scoring with 2+ goals in the match would be worth a go at 5/2.

England vs Ghana – The Ultimate Bet:

England to win the match & BTTS (11/4)

Thomas Tuchel looks to have taken the shackles off this England side and it is making for entertaining viewing.

The Three Lions will be expected to bea Ghana here but in taking more risks higher up the field and with the full-backs bombing on, there is space to exploit.

Ghana have some very talented attacking players, who should be able to craft chances and put Jordan Pickford in goal under pressure.

However, England's superior attacking line up and options off the bench, should see them prevail here in Boston.
