World Cup 2026: Canada vs Morocco – Best Bets, Odds & Prediction

Canada will take on Morocco on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. CDT at Houston Stadium for a spot in the Quarterfinals. Canada bounced back from their loss to Switzerland by defeating South Africa 1-0, but they will have a much tougher test now in Morocco. Morocco is undefeated at the tournament and much more proven against top competition. They tied Brazil to open up the tournament and defeated the Netherlands in penalties in their latest match, both top 10 teams in pre tournament odds.

Canada

This tournament has already been a resounding success for team Canada, making it past the group stage for the first time in team history and now picking up a win in the first knockout round. They will be underdogs for the second time this tournament, and this will be their toughest test yet as Morocco is -280 to advance to the Quarterfinal while Canada is +200. They lost to Switzerland 2-1 in the last game that they were underdogs, but the odds for a draw are +240 and anything can happen if this match reaches penalty kicks.

Team News: Canadian head coach Jesse Marsch expects Alphonso Davies to finally be back in the starting lineup after coming off the bench once again against South Africa. Moise Bombito is also expected to start for a second match in a row, after easing his way back from injury to begin the tournament. Ismael Kone suffered a broken leg in the Group Stage and is out for the remainder of the tournament, a significant blow to Canada’s midfield.

Morocco

Morocco has proven themselves as one of the best defensive squads in this tournament, allowing just four goals in four games with a clean sheet against Scotland and just one goal allowed against Brazil and the Netherlands. They finished fourth in the last World Cup and have gone 28-5-0 in their last 33 matches, with their last loss coming against Kenya in August of 2025. They have the eighth best odds of the remaining 16 teams (+2700) to win the tournament compared to Canada who ranks 15th (+20000) as much more of a long shot.

Team News: Morocco appears to be at full strength and is widely expected to go with the same starting 11 that got the job done against the Netherlands last match.

• Canada and Morocco have met four times on the International stage, with two matches coming since 2016 and one taking place at the previous World Cup. Morocco holds a 3-1-0 record lifetime, defeating Canada 2-1 in the Group Stage in 2022 and 4-0 in an International Friendly in 2016. Canada was able to draw 1-1 back in 1994.  
• Canada is 2-1-1 at the 2026 World Cup with nine goals for and three goals against, including two clean sheets.
• Morocco is 2-2-0 at the 2026 World Cup with their second draw resulting in a 3-2 win in penalties to advance to the Round of 16. They have 7 goals for and four goals against.
• The under 2.5 goals has hit in three of Morocco’s four games and two of Canada’s four games at the 2026 World Cup. Neither team has been held scoreless. 

Morocco is the favourite in this match as they should be, and I ultimately expect them to come out on top. I expect this to be a low scoring affair that is likely decided by one goal, and I would be surprised to see Canada come out on top in regulation time. If Canada is able to pull off the upset, I expect it to come in a shootout as Morocco’s top tier defence should be able to neutralize them at even strength. Canada lost to Morocco 2-1 at the previous World Cup and was defeated 2-1 against Switzerland the last time they were underdogs in this tournament, so I could easily see that being the final result and I am avoiding the under 2.5 at -175 for that reason. 

Morocco Moneyline (-132)

I could see this match ending in a draw and going to extra time or penalties, but Morocco at -132 is an excellent value and the best bet you can take in this match. Canada had never won a World Cup match coming into this tournament and Morocco is coming off a fourth place finish in 2022, so them being only -132 to come out on top is surprising. This match will also take place in Houston, so Canada won’t have the same boost that they had in the group stage where they played on home soil in Vancouver in Toronto.
