Top Picks for World Cup Day 34 | July 19th

Spain vs Argentina

Under 2.25 Goals (-116)

European champions Spain will face Argentina in the World Cup Final on Sunday evening in New Jersey. It's been an almost perfect tournament from Luis de la Fuente's side, who, aside from an opening-day 0-0 draw with Cape Verde, have progressed through each round with consummate ease. It hasn't been an easy passage for La Roja, having to squeeze past Portugal, Belgium and France to reach the showpiece event.

Spain's defensive record has been exemplary, with Unai Simón keeping yet another clean sheet against Les Bleus earlier in the week. They restricted their opponents to just 0.31 xG and just three shots on target. Kylian Mbappe was largely marked out of the game with the superstar cutting a frustrated figure. The partnership of Aymeric Laporte and Pau Cubarsi has been exceptional. Still, credit must go to the wing-backs Marc Cucurella and Pedro Porro, who have also played their part, with the latter keeping his composure to score the second goal of the game on Tuesday night.

Argentina came back from a goal down to beat England on Wednesday night. It was an intense 90 minutes, and having been taken to extra time by both Egypt and Switzerland, they were keen not to play an extra 30 minutes in Atlanta.

Lionel Scaloni's side haven't been at their best defensively, but they have shown a never-say-die attitude, and they have scored more late goals than any other team at the tournament. They were arguably lucky that England decided to retreat, as they looked fairly rattled by the width of the Three Lions. However, Scaloni's changes were effective, and they do have the players to compete.

World Cup finals are rarely high-scoring affairs, and this could be a slow-burner, particularly if Spain's defence continues to excel.
