Top Picks for World Cup Day 19 | June 29th
Brazil vs Japan
Both Teams to Score (-105)
Brazil went through as Group C winners, taking seven points from a possible nine. It's difficult to read too much into their performances, with Scotland making errors and Haiti offering very little resistance. When pushed by Morocco, they produced an inferior first-half performance, yet they were much improved after the break. Vinicius Jr and Matheus Cunha have looked sharp, but their defence has yet to be properly tested. This is a tough draw for Carlo Ancelotti's men, and with issues at full-back, they could struggle to keep the Samurai Blue off the scoresheet.
Japan settled for a 1-1 draw in their final group game against Sweden. Although both sides had chances to win the game, the stalemate was beneficial to both teams. Japan weren't at their best in that match, yet they did give up a fair few opportunities late in the game. They will look to exploit the Brazilian defence, and they are unlikely to make the same sort of mistakes which gifted the Selecao victories during the group stage. This one may go to extra time.
🗸 Long Shot: Brazil 1-1 Japan - Correct Score (+566)
🗸 Extra Tip: Japan +0.75 Handicap (-116)
Germany vs Paraguay
Both Teams to Score (+110)
Germany have made it through to the knock-out stages of the competition, yet they have been far from convincing at times. Against Ivory Coast, they were indebted to an impressive cameo from Deniz Undav from the bench, and against Ecuador, they were fairly stodgy despite going a goal ahead. Julian Nagelsmann decided not to make changes to his XI for the final group game, and that may count against them here. Nico Schlotterbeck is already out injured, and several players looked tired in the energy-sapping environment of New Jersey.
Aleksandar Pavlovic was hooked at the break, and Joshua Kimmich was also withdrawn in the second half. Nagelsmann will be hoping that his decision not to rest key players doesn't backfire.
Germany do not keep many clean sheets, and with Schlotterbeck missing the rest of the tournament, they could be vulnerable at the back. Luckily for the Die Mannschaft, Paraguay aren't prolific goalscorers, but they should have enough firepower to get on the scoresheet at least once. Aside from the USA debacle, they've been tough to break down and were robust during qualifying, too. They won't make it easy and could make this close.
🗸 Long Shot: Germany 2-1 Paraguay - Correct Score (+750)
🗸 Extra Tip: Germany to Win and Under 3.5 Goals (+108)
