Betting tips and predictions for the ninth day of the World Cup

Top Picks for World Cup Day 9 | June 19th

USA vs Australia

Over 2.5 Goals (100)

USA produced one of the standout performances of the first group stage games as they dismantled Paraguay 4-1. Mauricio Pochettino's side looked dangerous each time they ventured forward and played with plenty of dynamism. They have been handed a relatively straightforward schedule, with each of their group games taking place on the cooler West Coast, and they shouldn't have used up too much of their energy on Saturday. Folarin Balogun was clinical, and they are likely to carve out a few chances against Australia here.

The Socceroos got off to a dream start with a 2-0 success vs Turkey. They scored two fantastic goals and worked hard to stay in front. Turkey took 30 shots throughout the 90 minutes and were guilty of being extremely wasteful. USA are unlikely to be so forgiving, and if opportunities come their way, they are likely to be buried. The USA defence also appears to be a bit creaky, and it wouldn't be a surprise to see the Aussies find a way through at some stage.

🗸 Long Shot: USA 2-1 Australia Correct Score (+750)
🗸 Extra Tip: Folarin Balogun Anytime Goalscorer (+130)

Scotland vs Morocco

Morocco Win (-133)

Scotland got their World Cup campaign off to a memorable start with a narrow victory over Haiti. It was a much-needed victory, with Steve Clarke's men set to face Brazil in their final group game. This match will be far from straightforward for the Scots, who were slightly disappointing going forward in their opener, registering an xG of just 1.05. Nevertheless, the Tartan Army are always tough to break down, and they will not make it easy for the AFCON winners.

Morocco made a blistering start against Brazil and produced an eye-catching first-half display. The 2022 semi-finalists have extremely strong foundations, and there is talent all over the pitch. The change of head coach does not seem to have dented their momentum, and although their easiest game is yet to come, they'll be keen to seal qualification with a match to spare.

Scotland should compete admirably throughout the contest, but just a single goal may be enough to settle this one.

🗸 Long Shot: Scotland 0-1 Morocco Correct Score (+486)
🗸 Extra Tip: Under 2.25 Goals (-116)

Brazil vs Haiti

Over 19.5 Brazil Shots (-116)

Brazil were only able to pick up a point against Morocco in their opener, but they were much better in the second half. Once they'd made the changes and altered the set-up, they were able to limit the Atlas Lions to a handful of half chances. Carlo Ancelotti is an experienced manager who excels in tournament football, and having failed to win their opener, anything less than maximum points here would be deemed a disaster. The Italian may be tempted to make a few changes with Igor Thiago failing to impress in the opener.

Brazil managed just 12 shots at the weekend, but they should have far more license to attack here, and Haiti will not be able to pin them back. There should be more urgency about their play here, and they cannot afford to be too casual. There is a clear contrast in talent between these two teams, and although we've seen a few underdogs sit in and set up a low-block, Brazil should be able to pepper the Haiti goal and eventually make the breakthrough.

🗸 Long Shot: Brazil 3-0 Haiti Correct Score (+533)
🗸 Extra Tip: Brazil to Win to Nil (-152)

Turkey vs Paraguay

Turkey to Win and Under 4.5 Goals (+125)

Turkey were wasteful against Australia in their opener, but they were also undone by two individual moments of brilliance. Although the result was far from ideal, their chances of qualifying are far from over. This game has taken on an extra level of importance as a result of that defeat, and they cannot afford to be so profligate this time around. They have an abundance of talent in wide areas and in midfield, and are an extremely creative outfit. Unfortunately, they do not possess a clinical striker, and they are often left rueing missed opportunities.

Paraguay just could not cope with the energy of the USA in their opener. Nevertheless, they were defensively solid during their qualifying campaign, and they may opt to get back to basics here. They also lack firepower, so we may not see much high-quality finishing on show here. Neither side can afford to lose this one, so it could be tight and cagey, particularly in the first half.

🗸 Long Shot: Red Card in the Match (+500)
🗸 Extra Tip: First Half Result - Draw (+112)
