Top Picks for World Cup Day 6 | June 16th

France vs Senegal

Both Teams to Score (+115)

This is a replay of the opening game at the 2022 World Cup, in which the teams shared the points. France head into this game as short-priced favourites, but it won't be straightforward for Les Bleues. Didier Deschamps will take charge at an international tournament for the final time, although expectation isn't particularly high amongst supporters. The majority of the narratives will revolve around Kylian Mbappe once again, but the Real Madrid talent hasn't been at his best lately and will need to recapture his form on the international stage.  Michael Olise has been in fantastic form, and they have numerous options going forward, but their defence and midfield could be exposed. They conceded against Northern Ireland in the build-up to this tournament, and Senegal will be full of confidence coming into this Group I opener. Having been controversially stripped of their AFCON title, they will come here with a sense of injustice and aren't the sort of team to sit back and play for a point.

🗸 Long Shot: Both teams to score two or more goals (+550)
🗸 Extra Tip: Michael Olise Anytime Goalscorer (+185)

Iraq vs Norway

Over 2.5 Norway Team Goals (-105)

Very little is expected of Iraq at this summer's tournament, and being drawn alongside both France and Norway was far from ideal. They were fairly tough to beat during the qualifiers, and having waited four decades to compete at this tournament, they will be determined to avoid embarrassment. Nevertheless, there is a quality gap between them and their first opponents. Norway are considered dark horses for the trophy, and they certainly have enough firepower to reach the latter stages. With several players featuring in Europe's top leagues, they should win this fairly comfortably. Erling Haaland is one of the most clinical finishers in the world, and he should get a steady supply from his teammates throughout the 90 minutes.

🗸 Long Shot: Iraq 0-3 Norway (+566)
🗸 Extra Tip: Norway to Score in Both Halves (-125)

Argentina vs Algeria

Argentina to Win to Nil (100)

Holders Argentina begin their Group J campaign against Algeria and will be keen to get off to a positive start. They stumbled in the group stage of the 2022 tournament against Saudi Arabia, yet still managed to advance and lift the trophy. This may look like a relatively soft start on paper, but Algeria are no pushovers, and under Vladimir Petkovic, they have become a tougher proposition. The Swiss coach can call on some experienced campaigners, and although there are questions surrounding the goalkeeper, they should be fairly settled and prepared for this tie. Argentina have ample quality in the squad and just one moment of individual brilliance may decide this Group J opener. It is unlikely to escalate into a high-scoring 90 minutes, so we're expecting a fairly low-key and cagey contest.

🗸 Long Shot: Argentina 1-0 Algeria (+475)
🗸 Extra Tip: Under 2.5 Goals (-116)

Austria vs Jordan

Half-Time Result - Draw (+162)

Austria have significantly improved under the stewardship of Ralf Rangnick, and they have become regulars at these international competitions since he took over in 2022. They will be missing Christoph Baumgartner for this tournament, which is a significant blow, yet they still have plenty of pace and energy in the squad and will look to attack quickly and force their opponents into mistakes. Jordan don't make many errors. They are a solid proposition, and have built on years of solid foundations and will not make it easy for the Austrians. They will look to keep it solid and play on the counter-attack. Opportunities may be limited here, so they simply must make them count.

This could be a slow-burner with both teams spending the first 45 minutes sizing one another up. Austria may get stronger as the tournament progresses, whereas very few sides are likely to enjoy facing a stubborn Jordan outfit this summer.

🗸 Long Shot: Austria 1-1 Jordan (+900)
🗸 Extra Tip: Under 2.5 Goals (+130)
