Take a look at today's betting tips and predictions for the three World Cup fixtures on July 2nd

Top Picks for World Cup Day 22 | July 2nd

Spain vs Austria

Spain Win and Under 3.5 Goals (-110)

Spain's tournament started slowly, but they found their groove with victories over Saudi Arabia and Uruguay, and they find themselves in the Round of 32 with a potentially winnable tie against Austria. This is a game in which they must be patient and wait for the opportunities to present themselves. Against Cape Verde, they were pedestrian at times, and it left the fans incredibly frustrated.

They have undoubted talent in their side with Pedri, Rodri and Lamine Yamal all capable of creating moments of brilliance, and they also have plenty of options in reserve, including Ferran Torres, Nico Williams and Dani Olmo.

Austria have been dogged, and they managed to frustrate Argentina for large periods of their Group J contest. They were involved in a crazy end-to-end game with Algeria last time, but that match was a curious fixture with both sides aiming to qualify for the knock-out rounds. Now that they have secured their place, I think they will revert to type and look to use their underdog tag to frustrate the 2010 World Cup winners.

🗸 Long Shot: Spain 2-0 Austria - Correct Score (+450)
🗸 Extra Tip: Under 2.75 Goals (-125)

Portugal vs Croatia

Over 1.5 Portugal Goals (-110)

Portugal hardly set the group stages of the tournament alight, but they found a way to qualify, and they have been rewarded with a tie against the Group L runners-up. Notwithstanding some stuttering, Portugal did show some flashes of brilliance with Bruno Fernandes, Nuno Mendes and Vitinha all catching the eye. Although he has scored twice, many fans believe that Cristiano Ronaldo has prevented the team from fully realising their potential, with CR7 playing every single minute of the tournament so far, despite his age.

Nevertheless, they've displayed some promising patterns of play and should be able to cause issues for a Croatia side that conceded four times against England. Zlatko Dalic's men are a shadow of the side that featured in 2018 and 2022, but they are still relatively competitive. They should play their part in a decent game.

🗸 Long Shot: Bruno Fernandes to Score from Outside the Box (+1000)
🗸 Extra Tip: Over 2.25 Goals (-120)

Switzerland vs Algeria

Switzerland Win (+100)

Switzerland breezed through Group B, easily booking their place in the Round of 32. Unlike many other teams, the Swiss have been able to rest and recuperate ahead of this game with nine days between fixtures. That gives them a significant advantage over their opponents, as it will have allowed the players to shake off any knocks and work extensively on tactics.

The Swiss were left frustrated against Qatar, wasting chances before suffering a late suckerpunch, but it appeared as though they learned some valuable lessons from that experience. In Johan Manzambi, they also have an unpredictable and mercurial performer, something that this squad has seemingly lacked for many years.

Algeria failed to keep a clean sheet in Group J, although they did look dangerous going forward. They've had far less time to prepare for this tie, and that could make the difference. They cannot be underestimated, but they are likely to lack the same level of control as the Swiss and that will prove to be their undoing.

🗸 Long Shot: Switzerland 2-1 Algeria - Correct Score (+750)
🗸 Extra Tip: Over 1.5 Switzerland Team Goals (+105)
