"One of my most memorable sports moments was attending Old Trafford for Manchester United’s last home game of the 1998/1999 treble-winning season. They came from behind to beat Tottenham with David Beckham and Andy Cole scoring the goals. I got to witness the Premier League trophy presentation after the final whistle."

Q&A with Simon Winter

I’ve been a lifelong football fan and turning my passion for the game into a career felt like the right step to make – even if it was almost accidental at the beginning!

Football will always be number one for me. I enjoy plenty of other sports, but my passion for football will always shine through. I was a pretty handy 5-a-side footballer too!

So many come to mind, including some of Ireland’s matches at various World Cups. But the 1999 FA Cup semi-final replay between Man Utd and Arsenal had everything.

I descend from a long line of sea captains (and possibly pirates!)

I enjoy spending time outdoors in my home town of Wexford with my family and three dogs.
