The 2025 F1 season is on the brink of reaching its halfway point, in what has been one of the most memorable campaigns in recent years.

Next up is one of the flagship events on the calendar, particularly for Northern Hemisphere F1 fans, as Silverstone plays host to the British Grand Prix once more.

With McLaren looking booked in for the constructor’s championship, the race for the individual driver’s title is consuming the attentions of punters and the best betting sites UK.

A gritty win for Lando Norris in Austria came at the perfect stage for the Brit last time out but he knows the chasing pack will be hot on his heels this weekend at Silverstone.

Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton has dominated this race in recent years, triumphing in 7 of the last 10 incarnations of his home race and while he will be backed to the hilt this time around, he has work to do, as he chases his first win of 2025.

Elsewhere, Oscar Piastri and Max Verstappen will be looking to bounce back following difficult weekends in Austria and this could end up being one of the most significant race weekends of the season thus far.

Here are some best bets and top tips ahead of the 2025 British Grand Prix:

Race Winner – Outright Market

All 20 drivers on the grid will have the same objective here at Silverstone, in becoming the 2025 British Grand Prix winner.

However, those at the sharp end of proceedings will be from teams such as McLaren, Red Bull and Mercedes – who have dominated most contests so far this season.

Silverstone is always a true driving test, with Lewis Hamilton’s sustained success on the track a representation of how tricky driving conditions can be.

Lando Norris

All eyes will be on Lando Norris here, with the young Brit chasing his first ever win on home soil in Formula 1.

He blew a serious chance to get that monkey off his back in 2022 but has become one of the leading drivers on the grid ever since.

Winning at the Austrian Grand Prix last weekend certainly silenced a few doubters and there is no questioning his potential or speed at this level.

Titles are normally won in key moments and Lando Norris will be hoping this is a pivotal and positive weekend here at Silverstone.

Oscar Piastri

McLaren have the best car on the grid and the top two drivers currently and Oscar Piastri will be looking to play his part here.

The Australian has been applying plenty of pressure to Norris throughout the season and he too looks to be a huge prospect for years to come.

Whether or not Piastri can sustain his challenge to Norris in the driver’s championship remains to be seen but he is showing no sign of relenting yet.

Driving conditions at Silverstone will test Piastri but he is a competitor, and he should be bang in the mix again this weekend.

Max Verstappen

Bombing out early in the Austrian Grand Prix last weekend would have hurt Max Verstappen, who was backed to the hilt in the Red Bull stronghold.

His vice-like grip on the Formula 1 world title has been visible for 4 years but he knows he perhaps has his sternest test to deal with this season.

For all the plaudits and accolades Verstappen has picked up in the past few years, he has only won once here at Silverstone (2023), and he will need a special drive this weekend if he is to add to his tally.

Lewis Hamilton

On form, there is no way Lewis Hamilton should be in the discussion for a race win here at the British Grand Prix but exactly the same could have been said about the Brit in 2024.

Writing Hamilton off is never wise though and he produced a magical drive once more to win this race for the 9th time and his track knowledge here at Silverstone often proves too good for the rest of the grid.

Ferrari have endured a rough season but with Hamilton on board in the British Grand Prix, anything is possible.

2025 British Grand Prix – Outright Winner

Lando Norris – 7/4

Oscar Piastri – 9/5

Max Verstappen – 5/1

George Russell – 12/1

Lewis Hamilton – 20/1

Top 6 Finish

With only one driver being able to take the plaudits at the end of the 2025 British Grand Prix, the rest of the chasing pack will be eying up precious points at Silverstone.

The halfway point in the 2025 F1 season feels significant, with so many drivers still in the mix and cracking the top 6 would be a good weekend for any team outside of the big guns.

George Russell

Another home favourite here at Silverstone is George Russell, who has been quietly impressing for Mercedes this season.

He won well in Canada last month and with home support on his side, he will be hunting down at least a top 6 spot this weekend.

Charles Leclerc

As mentioned, it has been a tough season thus far for Ferrari and Charles Leclerc hasn’t fully hit his stride as yet this term.

Picking up a Silverstone win has, as yet, eluded Leclerc but he is a solid performer on his day, and he shouldn’t be too far away with a clear run.

Kimi Antonelli

Mercedes tend to unearth strong talents regularly and Kimi Antonelli looks to be their next firecracker in the ranks.

The Italian will be relishing this chance to impress at Silverstone, and he has pace to burn on this quick track.

Fernando Alonso

Veteran Fernando Alonso first won this race back in 2006 and almost two decades on, the fire in the belly very much remains for the Spaniard.

Form has been hard to come by this season, but he loves the British Grand Prix, and a top 6 finish feels within reach for him.

2025 British Grand Prix – Top 6 Finish

George Russell – 1/4

Charles Leclerc – 1/3

Kimi Antonelli – 2/1

Fernando Alonso – 16/1
