Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 27/04

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Saturday’s race card lineup is a busy one with meetings across the UK and Ireland at Doncaster, Haydock, Leicester, Ripon, Sandown, Wolverhampton and Navan to enjoy. Yesterday, we managed to tip yet another winner when Roaring Legend scored at Chepstow, so let’s aim for more success today. Below, you can find our latest horse racing betting tips ahead of the day’s action.

Best Tip #1:  Al Mubhir – Leicester, 14:05

Al Mubhir’s form was been a little patchy by his own standards at the end of 2023, though he won this race last year and despite being 7lb higher this time around, he could be the one to beat.

The 5-year-old, who has been gelded since his last appearance in December, should enjoy the soft conditions at Leicester and he is taken to produce the goods again here.

Tony Coule & Kaine Wood’s Thunder Roar could be another contender in the mix and could be worth tracking on sports betting sites. He returned to business with solid runs at Southwell (3rd) and Doncaster (2nd) in March and is likely to be involved again.

Look Back Smiling, who won a Class 2 race at Doncaster last month, might be a decent each-way option.

Best Tip #2: Purple Lily – Navan, 14:52

Paddy Twomey’s Purple Lily stole the show to win at Naas last month ahead of Aidan O’Brien’s 108-rated Portland and looks primed to perform again today. The 3-year-old moves up in grade and distance at Navan, and still unbeaten, she should take some stopping.

Twomey thinks he has a contender for the Irish 1,000 Guineas in Purple Lily and today offers her another chance to showcase her potential.

Everlasting is one of two Aidan O’Brien entries in today’s race, though it’s interesting to note that jockey Ryan Moore has chosen this charge ahead of its stablemate. Everlasting performed solidly enough to land fourth spot at the Curragh on March 18th and could improve here.

Bellezza could ruffle some feathers on the 3-year-old’s first appearance since a win at Leopardstown in July 2023.

Best Roughie: Coconut Bay – Wolverhampton, 18:00

Coconut Bay has been knocking on the door of late and could finally score for the first time in 29 races in the first run at Wolverhampton today.

The 5-year-old finished second in each of his last two efforts at Southwell and Newcastle, and seems to be better suited to 7f distances since dropping back to that trip. Coconut Bay is keenly priced on betting apps and could be worth a flutter.

Lady Wingalong meanwhile, has been receiving the most backing in ante-post markets. The 5-year-old dropped back to 7f to win at Linfield on his first appearance of 2024 and he should do well again today despite a 5lb increase.

Bluebells Boy is another who has come close on a couple of occasions recently and could be open to further progression.

Stats and Insights

  • The circuit at Leicester demands stamina from horses due to the undulating nature of the track while the jumps there can also be tricky. Trainers Venetia Williams and Olly Murphy have posted four wins each at Leicester this season.
  • Navan is another track for horses with staying power, especially with conditions there regularly testing due to the Irish weather. Big-hitting trainers Gordon Elliot, Willie Mullins and Henry De Bromhead are the ones to watch out for at Navan.
  • Built on a Tapeta surface, the track at Wolverhampton is a fair setting, though the left-handed turns are unusual and horses with experience at the track can have an edge. Jockey Rossa Ryan has 29 wins at Wolverhampton this season from 122 races there, while Callum Shepherd has a 27%-win rate at the track.
