Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 22/04

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

We start a new week of racing with fresh optimism and Monday’s line-up features events across the UK and Ireland at Ffos Las, Hexham, Kempton, Pontefract, Windsor and Tramore. Yesterday, we hit the post with two of our three selections when two of our picks placed, though we resume our hunt for winners with renewed vigour today. View our latest horse racing betting tips below.

Best Tip #1: Bonza Boy – Ffos Las, 14:42

Despite some clunky jumps, Bonza Boy still scored at Chepstow on his last outing with ease and that was his second victory on the trot after another success at Exeter at the beginning of March.

The 7-year-old has really been getting his act together and despite incurring an 8lb increase today, the son of Schiaparelli is taken to complete his hattrick over a favourable trip.

Elsewhere, Pilgrims King has been in the thick of the action on horse racing betting sites. The dual hurdle winner won on two of his four chase starts and got to the post first on his last visit to Ffos Las on April 16th.

Line Of Descent completes the trio of likely contenders with decent credentials. He’s been missing since October, but could surprise on his return.

Best Tip #2: Duhallow Tommy – Kempton, 18:00

Duhallow Tommy has been making solid progress over fences this year and his run to second place in a Class 3 Chase Handicap at Newbury last month was preceded by three straight wins at Plumpton over similar distances.

The 6-year-old could be open to further improvement today and earns our nod in what should be a keenly contested run at Kempton.

Dan Skelton’s Frere d’Armes is also worthy of a place on shortlists. He failed to impress as favourite at Ascot (3rd) last time out, though a 3lb drop could increase his chances of bouncing back today.

Thelasthighking is also considered despite his average showing at Ascot on March 24th. The 8-year-old has a record of 1-1-2-2 before that and should be respected here.

Best Roughie: Pidoyne – Tramore, 17:10

With Boston Bongo already declared a non-runner, the second race at Tramore has opened up a little and Pidoyne could be the one to back at the Irish meeting at an attractive price.

Trained by Henry De Bromhead, Pidyone won last year’s renewal of this race and despite limping to 13th in his last effort at Limerick, he’s got to be respected at this track on previous form.

Miss Gherkin meanwhile, has been leading the ante-post charge on the best betting apps. She got off the mark at Leopardstown last month after a drop back in trip and the unexposed 5-year-old should be thereabouts again over a similar distance today.

Spare a thought for Gordon Elliott’s Up And Out too. If the conditions are dry enough today, the 6-year-old could do some damage from deep.

Stats and Insights

  • Ffos Las is generally a track for the gallopers due to how the circuit is laid out there. Trainer Evan Williams (8) has more wins at Ffos Las than anyone else this season, though his overall win rate (11%) is relatively low. Jockey Sean Bowen has enjoyed decent success at Ffos Las this term.
  • Kempton is one of the UK’s flatter courses and sprinting types can enjoy themselves at the fair setting. Nicky Henderson, Tom Lacey and Harry Derham are the trainers to watch out for at Kempton this season, while jockey David Bass holds a 57%-win rate at the track so far.
  • Tramore can be a tricky course to get around and the flag starts can sometimes confuse inexperienced horses at the track. Gordon Elliott, WP Mullins and Henry De Bromhead have all put their name to victories at Tramore this season and that trio of high-profile trainers.
