Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 15/02

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

There are busy race cards to enjoy right across the afternoon and evening on Thursday, with events pencilled in at Chelmsford, Newcastle, Sandown Southwell and Clonmel. With runners to analyse and odds to weigh up, the potential for profit is high and below, we’ve lined up some more free horse racing tips to equip you with some expert knowledge ahead of the action.

Best Tip #1: Harvard Guy – Clonmel 2.20

Largey Hill had been our pick for today’s race at Clonmel after he got off the mark at Cork in January just a couple of months after showing promise on his hurdling debut at Navan.

However, the 7-year-old, who is trained by Willie Mullins, is a non-runner in Tipperary and we have to look elsewhere for a replacement.

Harvard Guy is the obvious alternative contender on sports betting apps after producing three wins in a row over a shorter trip at Navan. The improved handicapper finished quickly to reel in a lengthy leader last time out and could relish the longer run this time around.

Search For Glory is the only other viable option from a four-horse field, though the task is tricky for the 7-year-old, who will be conceding weight.

Best Tip #2:  Farceur Du Large – Sandown 3.05

Farceur Du Large won the Grand Military Gold Cup over C&D just three weeks ago while carrying Major Will Kellard and the 9-year-old is taken to follow up that win with another on his return to the same track and trip at Sandown.

Running out of Jamie Snowden’s stable, Farceur Du Large’s convincing win at Sandown in January was a fine return to his best form and a mix of momentum and circuit experience could lead to more success here.

Broken Halo was in contention to win the same race before a mistake put paid to chances, however, based on last season’s form, the 9-year-old remains one to watch.

Laskalin, who tends to go well on heavy ground, could confuse the issue if performance levels can be raised. Laskalin scratched at the surface of form in the Surrey National before falling back late on.

Best Roughie: Two Auld Pals – Newcastle 4.00

Two Auld Pals is a competent flat racer who landed in second spot in each of their last starts over hurdles. The 6-year-old lost out by a neck over C&D over a similar trip at Newcastle in early January and with some improvement, could unsettle the favourites at the same track.

Class 4 is a grade that should suit again, while the heavy conditions in the north east could be a leveller too.

Classic Maestro meanwhile, remains unexposed over this distance but progress can be anticipated with a certain degree of confidence. He dropped two miles to win at Uttoxer last time out and with Luke Scott in the saddle again, Class Maestro will be racing off only a 1b increase.

Letthedustssettle, who won twice at Carrick since the turn of the year, completes the trio of likely contenders on most betting sites for horse racing.

Stats and Insights

  • Clonmel calls for stamina due to the tough uphill finish at the track. That tricky topper comes at the end of a rectangular-shaped track before horses need to call on their energy reserves to tackle the final flourish. Look for stayers when assessing options here.
  • Sandown is a course for gallopers with the circuit’s 4 furlong inclined finish asking questions of fitness. It can also be an advantage to be drawn low at Sandown, as being placed there can allow runners to hug the rail at the first bend, which arrives shortly after the start.
  • The track at Newcastle also features an uphill stretch at the last and with pressure on the legs a factor, stamina is also the watchword in the north east. Both the chase and hurdle tracks at Newcastle are left-handed runs, something most horses will be very used to.
