Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 25/05

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Meetings across the UK and Ireland at Cartmel, Chester, Goodwood, Haydock, Salisbury, Windsor, York and The Curragh make up Saturday’s action-packed race card lineup, giving us numerous punting avenues to explore. Yesterday, we landed another winner when Wild Tiger did the business at Goodwood, so let’s hope for more of the same today. View our latest horse racing betting tips below.

Best Tip #1:  Camille Pissarro – The Curragh, 13:55

Camille Pissarro is a well-bred sort who is the son of Wootton Bassett and half-brother to seven previous winners, including Commonwealth Cup hero Golden Horde.

AP O’Brien’s 2-year-old made a winning start at Navan last month, staying on well to post a comfortable victory over 6f. Running over the same distance today, Camile Pissarro should take some stopping.

Midnight Strike meanwhile, could offer some stiff opposition if he handles the quick ground today. He showed plenty of promise on his bow for JP O’Brien at The Curragh last month and his win on that occasion suggested he should go well again on his return to the course.

Arizona Blaze is another previous Curragh winner who is worth a market check on betting sites for horse racing.

Best Tip #2: Vandeek – Haydock, 14:25

Big things are expected of Vandeek when he enters the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot later in the season and the unbeaten 3-year-old has a chance to start the new term with a bang at Haydock today.

Vandeek won four races in a row between July and September last year before a break and if that kind of searing form is recaptured, he should set the standard here.

Elsewhere, Esquire could be an each-way option with good credentials. He won and placed in two of his last three races in 2023 and then returned with a winning run over 7f at Newmarket last month, showcasing a good blend of pace and stamina.

Inisherin, who won at Newcastle in March, is another contender who could come into the frame.

Best Roughie: Island Star – Windsor, 19:45

Island Star was a maiden winner at Kempton in April last year and followed that up with three successive third placed finishes on the spin at Goodwood, Sandown and Newmarket.

He’s been out of action for the last 11 months and has been gelded during that period. He is of serious interest off a big starting price based on previous form and market action on betting apps in the lead up could offer a guide.

Owen Burrows’s Tarjeeh is expected to be the pace-setter and the unexposed 4-year-old was a winner at Wolves when last seen back in October.

Tony Montana’s recent run and success at Chester on May 9th caught the eye and he could also come into the mix despite a 4lb rise for today’s challenge.

Stats and Insights

  • The Curragh is a track for galloping types and the taxing uphill finish there demands stamina from the front runners. Jockeys Colin Keane, Ryan Moore and WJ Lee are all in action at The Curragh today and all three have had plenty of success there over the last five years.
  • Haydock isn’t overly demanding, giving most types a decent shot at glory there. Conditions can be testing there at times, however. Trainer William Haggas has earned 41 wins from 159 races at Haydock over the last half a decade.
  • The circuit at Windsor is both flat and fair, running around a somewhat unorthodox figure-of-eight shape. Again, William Haggas is the trainer to look out for at Windsor. He has a 27%-win rate from 85 races there over the last five years.
