Cheltenham 2024 has ended after another phenomenal four-day festival; however, the racing season continues at pace today with meetings at Kempton, Newcastle, Southwell, Uttoxeter, Wolverhampton and Thurles to get us through Saturday. Titan Discovery seems to be on an upward trajectory and the 6-year-old managed to win on two of his last three efforts at Ascto and Sandown. He runs over the same trip today and though he has moved up a couple of grades, he should be ready to compete again. A 6lb rise following his win over hurdles last month should be manageable.
Kateira, who has featured readily on other horse racing betting sites, is also of interest. She looked strong last season, especially at Aintree when she landed second spot in a Class 1 Novice Grade race. She also placed at Wetherby and Kempton after that, so form is on her side ahead of today’s run.

Best Tip #2: Call Me Jack – Newcastle 4.22
Call Me Jack has been making the right moves since switch to handicaps and a first win at Southwell on February 18th was followed by another strong showing at Newcastle (2nd) earlier this month. Today’s longer trip offers a chance to maintain his progression and he runs off an unchanged mark to boot. Back him to succeed again here.
The obvious danger comes from Libor Lad today, who runs out of David Dennis’s stable. The 6-year-old is a dual soft-ground handicap winner at around 2m4f and caught the eye at Doncaster last month when running clear to first. He is carrying a 9lb increase today, but remains a proper contender.

Best Roughie: Lough Nigara- Thurles 4.50
The lightly race Lough Nigara did well on his handicap debut at Punchestown on January 3rd when he finished third quite comfortably over 2m. He is 3lb better off today ahead of another set of jumps over a similar distance and further progression is anticipated. Jockey R.A. Doyle has 55 career wins over hurdles and his experience could also count today.
Temptationinmilan also has decent credentials and he has already been backed into second-favourite on betting apps. The 8-year-old is a stayer, who won a 3m handicap chase at Navan a little over a year ago. He hasn’t got going yet this season, however, his 15lb reduction could push him into contention in an open race today.

- Kempton ranks among the flatter courses on the UK circuit and sprinters can excel there due to the layout of the track. There is little in the way of draw bias to consider in what is a fair setting in the main. It can pay to look to sprinters ahead of stayers here.
- There is an uphill burst to conquer at the last at Newcastle which can put extra pressure on horses’ legs. That final flourish calls for deep wells of stamina. Both the hurdle and chase tracks at Newcastle are left-handed, which should suit most types.
- Stamina is also the watchword at Thurles due to the circuit’s testing uphill finish. There is also a downward dip to navigate preceding the final bend before the incline at the end starts. The right-handed track at Thurles is around a mile and two furlongs in length.
