Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 01/04

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Easter Monday is shaping up to be a festival of fun for racing fans and with events across the UK and Ireland at Chepstow, Fakenham, Huntingdon, Kempton, Plumpton, Redcar, Wolverhampton, Cork and Fairyhouse, there is no shortage of avenues to explore in the markets. Yesterday, two of our three selections placed, though we’re determined to get back to winning ways as quickly as possible and below, you can pick through our latest horse racing betting tips.

Best Tip #1: Bonza Boy – Chepstow, 3.10

Bonza Boy represents an in-form stable today in the second race at Chepstow and the 7-year-old could be ready to score for the second race on the spin.

Bonza Boy won easily at Exeter earlier this month on soft ground and could excel in the same conditions today. A 10lb increase is lofty, however, he is taken to defy that rise here.

Elsewhere, Walkinthewoods has seen some movement in his direction on other betting sites for horse racing. He has yet to win since switching to fences this season, however, a series of three recent successive runner up spots were all achieved at Chepstow and with course experience to draw from, Walkinthewoods could be right in the mix again.

Best Tip #2: Ryehill – Cork, 4.08

Ryehill is a former dual point winner and showcased potential to finish second at Thurles last month in a maiden hunter chase. The Ross O’Sullivan-trained gelding looks to have the edge over his rivals today and should make good on his odds-on price to score a win.

Ryehill started slowly and moved through the gears last time out and a quicker start could be key later today.

Competition could arrive in the form of Glady Max and Bigbraveboy. Glady Max has won two of his last three points races and should be involved for JJ Mangan.

Bigbraveboy meanwhile, has failed to finish in three of his five point-to-point efforts, though he did win and place in his other two and on that form, he can threaten here.

Best Roughie: Battle of Mirbat – Fairyhouse, 5.40

Battle of Mirbat’s last win came last summer off a 12lb lower mark at Wexford and some consistent form since could set him up for more success at Fairyhouse today.

The 7-year-old had a record of 3-2-2 over the winter before he landed second spot again at Leopardstown on March 3rd and despite catching the handicapper’s eye, he looks ready to taste victory again soon.

Ian Donoghue’s St Denis’s Well is the market favourite on sports betting apps and the progressive youngster is likely to be a chief contender in the heavy conditions today.

The 6-year-old has already won three times this year, twice at Down Royal and once at Navan, and stepping back up in trip today is unlikely to faze him. The unexposed Better Times Ahead could also pose a threat.

Stats and Insights

  • The track at Chepstow is a one mile, seven-furlong oval with testing undulations. With the racecourse situated in Wales, wet weather can affect conditions. Jockeys, Harry Cobden and Ben Jones, have both won eight races so far this season at Chepstow.
  • The circuit at Cork is a level and fair setting for most, which can lead to races in Ireland’s south west being competitive and close-run things. Trainer WP Mullins has been the trainer to watch at Cork, posting 10 wins from 36 races there so far this term.
  • Fairyhouse runs around a track that is virtually square-shaped and there is a slight uphill burst to conquer on the home straight. Jockey Paul Townend has a 35%-win rate at Fairyhouse this season, while trainer WP Mullins is the main man again in that department, posting 23 wins from 88 entries at the track.
