10. Los Angeles Lakers vs Sacramento Kings: Showdown in the Wild West
Few of the series on this list have sparked more conspiracy theories than the battles between the Lakers and Kings in the early-2000s. The peak of this rivalry came in the 2002 Western Conference Finals, when the Lakers overcame a 3-2 deficit against a backdrop of disputed officiating calls that still fuel plenty of debate more than 20 years later.
Led by Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant (Lakers) against Chris Webber and Mike Bibby (Kings), the series showcased LA’s famed skill and grind. It was a repetitively short-lived rivalry, however, it still spawned a huge amount of chatter and controversy.
9. New York Knicks vs Indiana Pacers: Reggie Miller’s Broadway Revenge
The 1990s Eastern Conference was a physical battlefield, though the Knicks-Pacers series stood apart and was pure, concentrated sporting theatre.
Patrick Ewing’s Knicks met Reggie Miller’s Pacers in multiple playoff rounds, though none were more memorable than the 1994 Eastern Conference Finals.
Miller’s incredible eight-point flurry in a 16 second burst, capped by a choke gesture to Spike Lee, turned Madison Square Garden into a cauldron of hate. This rivalry served up trash talk, clutch heroic, and New York swagger in a way few others have matched.

Originating in the 1950s and spanning the decades through to today, Celtics-76ers is one of the league’s longest-running rivalries.
Bill Russell battled Wilt Chamberlain in the 1960s, Larry Bird faced Julius “Dr. J” Erving in the 1980s and now Jayson Tatum contends with Joel Embiid.
With 22 postseason meetings (Celtics lead 15-7), this series has delivered everything from iconic dunks to MVP races. It’s a rivalry built on sustained excellence and mutual respect, with competition always fierce.
4. Los Angeles Lakers vs San Antonio Spurs: The Western Conference Clash
Between 1999 and 2013, the Lakers and Spurs were head honchos out west and reached the Western Conference Finals in 12 out of 15 seasons during that period. A blazing rivalry developed as LA and San Antonio competed for supremacy.
Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginóbili’s Spurs repeatedly challenged the Shaq-Kobe duopoly and later Kobe-Pau Gasol axis against Lakers teams in chess-like series. LA were regularly priced as favourites on NBA betting apps, though the Spurs often found ways to upset the odds.

From 2015 to 2018, LeBron James’ Cavaliers and Stephen Curry’s Warriors were NBA Finals opponents every single year, which is the only time that has happened in NBA history.
The Warriors’ revolutionary motion offence and “Strength in Numbers” philosophy squared up against LeBron’s one-man army heroics in this series.
The 2016 Cavaliers’ comeback from 3-1 down was the highlight and remains arguably the greatest Finals moment of the modern era, however, the Warriors emerged from the period as the dominant force.
