Much like the 100 metres at the Olympics, it\u2019s a perfect mix of raw speed and brute strength \u2014 especially when it ends in six points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the long and storied history of the league, only two players have ever rushed the full length of the field for a touchdown. Considering that the average NFL game sees between 134 and 168 plays (via Pro Football Reference), it highlights just how rare and special those runs truly are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here, we count down the six longest touchdown runs in NFL history, beginning with the man who held the Green Bay Packers\u2019 franchise record for an incredible 65 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. Andy Uram \u2013 97 yards<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The October 8, 1939 matchup between the Packers and Cardinals was filled with explosive plays, including a 92-yard touchdown from Don Hutson and a 60-yard score to Bill Smith.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a flash of brilliance, Andy Uram tore through the Cardinals\u2019 defence for a 97-yard touchdown in the third quarter \u2014 a play that would remain the longest in Packers history for over six decades. That score put Green Bay up 21-0 en route to a 27-20 triumph.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Uram had just two rushing attempts in the game yet amassed 108 yards. That season, he totalled only 272 rushing yards but still earned his only career Pro Bowl nod.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Lamar Miller – 97 yards<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Incredibly, Lamar Miller has gone wire-to-wire on two occasions to register 97-yard touchdowns and both scores have occurred in divisional match ups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Miller first achieved the feat when representing the Miami Dolphins in a Week 17 game against AFC East foes the New York Jets. Having forced a turnover on downs three yards from their own endzone in the third quarter, the Fins handed the ball off to Miller and he went the length of the field untouched to give Miami a 24-14 lead. The Jets would come back to win the game 37-24 but it was the play from Miller that is best remembered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Four years later, the University of Miami alumni did it again when on the Houston Texans. Miller had to work a little harder for his touchdown this time with opponents Tennessee at least getting in a couple of half-hearted tackles but there was no stopping the Texans back as he outsprinted the Titans secondary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This time the second quarter TD meant a little more as it helped Houston rack up an eighth straight win in the Week 12 match up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
