It’s held at the Aintree Grand National in April each year. The Betway Bowl is a three-mile and one-furlong hurdle race with 19 fences to jump. It was established in 1984, as a consolatory prize for losers and non-participants in the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

Initially, this race was backed by Perrier-Jouët and was named the Perrier-Jouët Champagne Cup. It was then sponsored by five other entities and renamed each time before Betway took over sponsorship in 2017, where it became the Betway Bowl Steeple Chase.
